there are many :)

how speedy is your air?  given the form factor you might want to try something relatively light weight such as Transmission.  however, if you're air is up to the burden you could use Azureus, which as a lot of iptv type content as well as being a torrent app.

GoodSync. Easily back up and sync your files with GoodSync. Simple and secure file backup and synchronisation software will ensure that your files are never lost (affiliate link).

Use Transmission its apparently a much lighter app. I have it, its nice, though I need to sort out my port forwarding to actually do any torrenting.

So now you know Windows programs don't run on Mac. With all the other issues you have had, I still wonder if the Air is the right machine from you? You could get one significantly more powerful, with all normal ports built in, that will natively run all your Windows apps for $1000 less. Where did you buy it from? DSE has a 14 day right of return.

I am loving my Macbook to bits though.

I use Azureus myself, it's a bit more heavy weight than most other clients but it does have an excellent set of plugins (like IP blocking etc) to make life easier .. plus it is regularly updated.
