Their prices seem very reasonable compared with paying retail, has anyone made a recent purchase or can provide any reviews of this company? www.toshsales.com?

I'm looking at updating my 2013 MacBook, and would appreciate any recommendations or experiences with purchasing from Tosh Computers.

They've been around for a long time; I bought a machine a decade ago and had no problems. Naturally that's not a recent purchase, but that's still my 2c

.com and cheap off the shelf ecommerce site makes me a bit suspicious.

I'd try a few things before buying

1) Ring the NZ number and make sure you get some one in NZ
2) do a whois lookup on domain name and see where it was registered
3) check if they are LTD in NZ company register

Bought a brand new first gen iPhone of that site when the iPhone 3G was announced for $450! (Obviously not a recent purchase).

I’d give the number a call and see if it’s still run by Jens Mueller. If it is, I think you’ll be fine as I see he was recently appointed to the NZ Order of Merit...

The domain name, at least, still is. It was updated in February.

There has been previous discussion on GZ about Tosh. Tosh boss has been emphatic that there was no requirement for an overseas company to charge GST. I believe that loophole and the fact that very few packages used to be caught by Customs was their MO. Whether that is still the case or whether more imports get inspected now would be interesting. There may be more to it as the company seems to have stayed under the radar.
