Hi there, I downloaded a copy of Bento over 30 days ago and installed it but didn't gert around to using it for more than 5 mins. Went to use it today and was told its older than 30 days, buy it. Downloaded another demo and I'm not allowed to use it due to the 30 routine.

Is there anyway to clear the Bento trail from my machine so that I can have a real crack at using the software? can see a way to get an extention from the website.

Cheers motorwayne

You would need to clear out every single registry entry that it created  - which would be a task and a half.

If you have a second mac you could try installing it there (a clean install of the OS would provide an ideal clean slate).  Alternatively, you could try creating a new user and install it there (i imagine that this method is not going to work).

Alternatively, a quick email off to the support email address can sometimes help out ...

I read in a forum recently, if i can recall correctly, that someone could use the Office test drive again after uninstalling it using AppZapper.

Not sure if it will work with Bento demo.

Just going into: [harddrive] > Users > [your username] > Library > Preferences >
and find a file called: com.filemaker.bento.plist
and delete it.

It might reset the 30 day trail.

locate all the .plist entries in /home/user/library and /library and delete them, you should be fine to reinstall it then.

alternatively, install a utility called MainMenu which is a menu-bar app that gives you direct access to a lot of system tools which will clean out redundant logs/caches/plist entries.

failing that do a spotlight search for everything bento* filemaker* etc and see what pops up.

I had to format my Mac! there was an issue with "mail" and it was convenient for me to just blat the drive, so I got another 30 days. Just purchased "Bento and iworks 08" from the Apple NZ store today. Cool.

I'm in a little group where we are planning on producing a local telephone directory...

Would Bento allow me to input all the contact details etc and then produce a telephone directory? Or am I way off track?
Any suggestions on what software would be needed to achieve the above task?

thanks

Yep, Bento would be great for that. It is very configurable and has some templates to help you along the way.

Wow you serious?
So I can input all the data, apply the template which I like and then send for print?

I might have to download the testdrive version.

Thanks for that motorwayne Smile

G'day, you probably found it, but I forgot to tell you, that to print all records, there is a setting that appears when you go into the print screen which says something like "print all records?" tick that and they'll all come out!

Yay.
