I’m trying to do this. The settings that Apple give you for your domain don’t match the settings options on my domain admin.

For example, the Apple instructions refer to a value being entered under “Host” yet on the domain admin, no boxes have the designation “Host”.

I’m not sure what to do.

Depends on your hosting provider - it could be called something different. Who’s your DNS provider?

Geektastic: Freeparking.

Based on what’s here - https://support.rocketspark.com/hc/en-us/articles/115010277487-How-to-change-your-DNS-settings-in-FreeParking#:~:text=How%20to%20change%20your%20DNS%20settings%20in%20your%20FreeParking%20account,the%20Name%20Server%20Records%20section

Enter host name as your domain name, then select the record type, mainly MX required and under domain name, enter the value provided by Apple. Eg. mx01.mail.icloud.com

The host value Apple give is usually ‘@‘

Not sure what to do with that - just insert @?

One is given as ‘sig1._domainkey’ under CNAME

I have domain hosted with cloud flare and it was an easy 5 min job to get working with iCloud.

So far this has taken me 24 hours. Of course, I haven’t a clue what I’m doing so that doesn’t help.

I am not winning with this.

The instruction given is to put this in:

MX:
Record Type: MX
Host: @
Value: mx03.mail.icloud.com.
Priority: 10

However, Freeparking has no column or other entry marked 'Host' and no column or entry marked 'Priority' (there is a drop down with unexplained numbers in 1, 5, 10,15,20, 30 etc but as they are not labelled, I do not know what they are for).

There is also a box that you can enter text that says "Sub-Domain" just before yoursite.co.nz but I do not think we are involving sub domains in this matter.

Nothing in subdomain, 10 in the number field, its the priory, and the value (mx03...) in the field next to the priority.

I find that Apple provides wrong instructions.

If you follow to the T it won't work

Ask someone to post the format and then figure out where your characters fit in the jigsaw puzzle

The instructions are fine. They’re just generic as every dns provider formats things differently.

Leave the subdomain field empty.

Choose 10 from the dropdown list.
Doesn't really matter what you choose here as you only have the one MX record.

Edit: Just on the MX record, make sure there is only the one that you add for iCloud otherwise you will have issues.

Put mx03.mail.icloud.com in the Assigned to server field.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Aaaaand it’s not working properly again!

No messages telling me or error messages etc. Just “did you get my email?” errr no.

I have a new MacBook Pro en route from Apple due early next week. When it arrives I’ll set it up and see if it’s still messed up. My iMac Pro is gone so I’ve only the iPhone at the moment.

🧐recheck the settings?

maybe take a screenshot of the characters when it works

check your domain host side of things if you accidentally changed something
