I have used an old style vodem on my Mac for a couple of years and have got used to just removing it from the usb as I would a mouse. Helping a Very new Mac user with the new stick vodem and it seems to be behaving like a flash drive or similar.
Please, Does the stick need ejecting before removing???

I don't see why it would. I think they only appear as a flash drive to install drivers and the connection application for it.
The only time you'd really want to 'eject' one, is when you've written data to it, and that probably not going to happen often :)
