Hi guys,

I heard and read that the new iMac's might be released within the month.  I thought i would start this thread up so as people hear or read more on this topic that they could comment.

Cheers

No appleinsider links? Didn't the Macbook recently get updates?

The mac mini has had a fairly recent update as well, so the only thing I would expect out of that is a processor bump.

iMac ... now that's due for some nice updates ... I seen a number of comments about the iMac being made thinner - whilst I don't agree that it will exacerbate the heat issue (think thinner, process closer to the shell, possibly giving more surface area to dissipate the heat) it does seem to be an odd aesthetic to chase when processor speed + better graphics are always welcome. (As would be quad core and more RAM).

One of the other rumors that have been floating about for a little bit of time is that they will be incorporating bluray drives ... whilst I don't doubt that will happen long term, I don't know that we're quite there yet.

wazzageek: No appleinsider links?

A couple of those articles link through to AI. I'm just a little biased towards MR because I'm one of the staff over there :P

I'm secretly hoping for (but not expecting) multiple colours, a la the new iPod nano's. We saw how popular the original iMac was in all its different colours and I think now's the perfect time to do it again. Thoughts?

LOLZ

I have an iMac that come out in 2005.

At this stage the lowest specced iMac will probably be light years ahead of the computer I've currently got.

The old work horse still plows ahead so it's alright for the mean time but an upgrade sure will be nice....

Everyone here heard about NVIDIA pulling out of the integrated graphics card market?

Sure does pose a dilemma for Apple because the 9400M that they use on Macbooks isn't too bad. It's fantasticabulous compared to the previous iterations of integrated Intel.

Yes, I was hearing a lot of roumers about this - Apple also said that it will involve a totally different manufacturing process which they are really excited about so I think yes - same material as the new iPod Nano's with similar colours is my guess :P We will see!

It just seems to be the Asia-Pacific stores that are down - North America and Europe are fine, so I'd say it's a website issue.
