I'm about to enter the 10th month of my standard 1 year warranty on my MBP, so I'm shopping around for prices on AppleCare.
One place I am looking is eBay. I have found a couple of sellers who are selling AppleCare for around NZD$200.

I am a little wary though of purchasing from eBay with this kind of thing - Has anyone else done this and been okay?
Do Apple require proof of purchase when servicing or transferring the warranty? (Either to a new owner, or new machine should it ever need to be replaced)

Any pointers would be good thanks!

Purchasing AppleCare anywhere will be fine. I strongly suggest you have a look at the Apple support website here - https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do - you have to register it before that date. If you register it after that date (let say because you have a POP that shows a longer date than what Apple has as their estimate DOP) then you will need to provide POP of your machine to update this date and also POP of the AppleCare to prove you have purchased it within 12months. Sometimes if you don't have a proper AppleCare POP showing it was purchased from a genuine Apple Reseller (not a third party like eBay then they can get a bit itchy about this and may decline to register it until you obtain the original POP from when it was actually purchased from and Apple Store.

Hope this helps and isn't too confusing :0

Phill

Oh okay, thanks for that.

I can register it any time before the 20th August, so thats okay.

So going on what you're saying, and what others have said, I should be fine getting it from eBay as long as I do it before that date, yeah?

Because there is about $400 in savings, which is definitely worth while.

Thats correct. Register it before any due dates and you will be fine :D It's similar to people ho purchase from Tosh Computers - all those AppleCare's have been purchased from overseas and people who buy machines from him in NZ register them without any problems.

c71931f: Wouldn't one of these  or these be fine?

Can still get it cheaper.

Based on that price, I can get it for around $70 cheaper on eBay.

Ah k..I just thought it would be better getting it from a nz company etcCoolInnocent

yeah, it would be. But unless they price match, being a student, I'm not exactly going to turn down $70 savings :P

Thats for the 13" pro. Not the 15/17" - I did come across that though - I wish people would list products correctly.

Thanks though
