hey guys,

After being challenged to try and hackintosh a lenovo think center desktop I've manged to get it almost working...

almost because

- I have to boot off the iboot disk and start in verbose mode
- I have no Ethernet.

The booting problem is an issue I can handle as I think I may know the issue. But the network issue isnt. I dont know what the device is exactly so not sure what I'm looking for. I do know its intel onboard. I should have written it down when it was a working windows system duh.

I've used multibeast to install the intel family drivers but no luck. How do I go about trying to finding the correct kext and installing it? Cant let it beat me. My last resort would be to get a usb attached ethernet widget.

cheers,

I had the iboot issue aswell. Make sure that your hard drive setup in your bios is AHCI. what's the motherboard? I had problems with my Asus onboard network so got a cheap network card from DSE and it worked off the bat

its an intel board of which I'm not sure. I'm using a usb ethernet doggle and its working ok. for some reason VLC wont show video I just get the sound. It will play stuff that's quicktime ie m4v etc but nothing else. Safari crashes all the time but firefox is ok.

I cant find that setting in my bios but will play around and see how I go. Thanks very much for the reply. I might have to boot windows back up to find out the exact chip sets.

sounds like a few niggly problems, what graphics card? i had the same issue on my ati 3870x2 because it didn't have hardware acceleration..

you should really find out the specs on all your hardware, that way you can google for help with the exact kext you are needing.

Ok,  I know jack all about hardware but this might make more sense to you guys hopefully. The usb ethernet adapter worked very well but it would be nice just to use the on board network interface.

My video problem from reading around the net is a graphics driver issue. Nativity quicktime stuff is ok but there isn't any hardware acceleration and it really battles to play anything at a decent res.

So should I be looking for kext for an intel Q965?
