OK, to add to this, the conversation here may include suitable and cost effective small network backup systems that include a mac mini server, I am assuming a TM that can also act as a WiFi AP is a suitable option.

I wouldn't use cost effective and Apple/Mac in the same sentence (heh).

We have one of these mac mini server's at work for the staff using mac's and it does the job nicely, expensive though.

The Mac mini server probably does more than you need and doesn't include a wifi ap so the time capsule might be a better option
