Hi guys

Making a big purchase very shortly, iMac with all the trimmings, plus an iPod Touch...

Where is the best place to purchase in Auckland that might hook a brother up, so to speak...?

iPod case, free cables etc with a big purchase?

I know the markup is different with Apple, the retailer doesn't make as much. But there might be somewhere?

Cheers

Doubt it, not with Apple products really. You could perhaps put your purchases on an interest-free deal at best?

Have you tried www.pricespy.co.nz or www.priceme.co.nz they usually will find you the cheapest deal going.

Seems unlikely unfortunately. Try an apple specialist, ubertec has a good rep.
Very little margin as you know in apple products so would be surprised if you get any freebies, unfortunately one iMac does not a big purchase make. Some resellers deal with commercial and edu customers who buy dozens of machines at once.

Joseph

JB Hifi like to do combo deals if you buy a few things which with the combined discount effectively lets you choose the freebie. I bought a LCD photo frame itouch and case, the discount I received nearly covered the itouch case ($40odd dollar leather jobbie)

Not likely in nz. My boss bought a couple of MacBook pros when in USA a year ago and got a free iPad with each one but not heard of it here

It depends what you mean by "trimmings" what are you getting with the Mac, is there any accessories you are getting or are you looking at getting Applecare? Things like that would be deciding factors on whether or not you would be likely to get any sort of freebies.

If you seem semi interested a salesperson is going to try hard to make a deal. if you don't just go OK straight away the question will come up, what can i do to close this deal, you then suggest the items you would like thrown in and they will try and see if they can squeeze it out, and it needs to be a case of where you are prepared to walk away which will most likely get a manager who is keen on closing the sale involved to make a final offer

why are you getting the imac now? if it is not an urgent purchase, I would wait for a bit since current imac has already approach the end of their life cycle and a newer version will be available soon. http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/
