This is actually driving me up the wall. Apple removed samba in their latest OS X release(that I know). However I thought they'd have atleast done something for printing. Everything worked fine on Snow Leopard too... (So I know this printer works).

I'm trying to get an OS X 10.7/Lion Mac to print to a Xerox C2260 Docucentre.

I cannot:
  1. connect to the windows computer which is sharing the printer.
  2. print with the driver from xerox when the printer is added via SMB(this only every worked once, however using post script as the driver gives me 50 pages of rubbish)
I can:
  1. Connect to it via LDP. I have downloaded the right drivers and installed them. I can view the amount of ink left in the printer through the mac. However when I print, the printer aborts the file as it doesn't understand what has been sent.
  2. Print to this printer via Snow Leopard

Error code: "Aborted(016-749)".

I've tried adding it through "CUPS" but the drivers that CUPS offers are not even close to the right model.

Everything was fine on Snow Leopard... Why Apple broke everything is beyond me :s

Does the C2260 have the PostScript option installed ? If not, that's why you have pages of gibberish :-)

If so, you should be able use the generic PostScript driver.

Can you print via LPD from Snow Leopard ? And using the same LPD settings in Lion ?

How about Bonjour ? You may need to enable it on the C2260, if it is supported.

Have you contacted Xerox ? You may need a firmware update to make use of newer drivers.

Hmm I guess the post script driver isn't installed.
We don't have a snow leopard computer left, everyone upgraded at the same time :s

I'll investigate upgrading the printers with postscript installed. Thanks for the help :)

Xerox can do it too we do lease them after all
