If you're in Hamilton right now, take a look outside in the sky, down and left a bit from the sun is a shiny object. Its been pretty much stationary there for about an hour. Can you see it? What is it?

Looks like a weather balloon ? although it is rather stationary.

I tried taking a picture of it but I get a while dot, would need to carefully use a telescope to see it properly

I got the same result - although I didn't really expect better with a cellphone camera.
With a telescope you'd want to be really careful not to glimpse the sun and fry your eyeball!

I suppose it depends what the breeze it like up at that level. There's enough wind at ground level that I'd expect it to move visibly in a fairly short space of time.

This is used by American military to relay messages in the event of nuclear war. They are doing some testing for NZ as we are a member of the fry eyes.

video it in landscape .. if got a 12Mpixel camera even better...

submit it to UFO planet or 3rd phase guys they will try to zoom it etc and add it to the tube

I say breeze is up there too perhaps more so.. and cooler

but its could be a remote device that has thrust to keep it in same place

I can still see it slightly down and left of the sun about 2 kms south east of Hamilton. Everyone in the office is having a look now.

perhaps can put some sort of filter to reduce sun glare.

as direct to sun destroys CCD cameras I read.

There has been some google loons passing over the country the last couple of days again around the nelson bays region. It's possible its another, hard to tell if its a non-adsb one without many of the plane guys logging online up there

Appears as a bright whit circle when photographed with Canon 70D I will try an upload an image when I reduce the size
