Came across this and thought it might be of interest. I can just imagine heaps of 80ft masts springing up over the NZ countryside!

People want their super fast data speeds, but hate the associated towers that are required as a part of it. Reminds me of all those NIMBY parents complaining about cellphone towers near their precious kiddie's schools. Bet you that 100% of them parents (and a lot of the kids) have a cellphone or three however.

That's interesting: my above post is time stamped as 5:52am. Looks like the geekzone server hasn't allowed for daylight saving time ending this morning. Calling @freitasm ?

Part of the issue is the lack of natural high points in the british and irish isles. The Ben Nevis is only 1344m and England has no "mountains" above 1000m.

By contrast NZs highest 100 named peaks are all above 2400m...

Happens every year, and someone questions it every year.

What a click baity POS story,  what is their definition of "many" out of 300,000??

The more towers you have, the smaller you want the coverage "cells" to be,

sticking them on 80 foot towers does not acheive this well

We used to rent aerial space on water towers to the telcos in East Anglia because the region is so flat and the highest structures are the towers and church steeples.

Made the company a fortune in rent.
