Just heard Kelvin Davis trying to explain that the tourism slogan '100% Pure' is evolving to mean something broader. It's a nonsense.

I see tourists at the Christchurch Botanical gardens using big and expensive cameras to take photos of natural beauty. I think a slogan that highlights the beauty of NZ would be the way to go. These tourists have made the effort to bring big cameras on holiday rather than just using their Iphone X or Samsung S9.

It is the beauty of NZ that has made them bring the cameras.

So my effort is: 'Beautiful New Zealand' This would go well with photos on posters, magazines, & all sorts of promotional videos. Not a perfect slogan but a heck of a lot more honest.

No slogan at all, I'd personally prefer a lot less tourists. We're losing a lot of what we have/had at a great rate of knots.

NZ: Don't come here if you want to sleep in van, leave rubbish everywhere, obstruct the flow of traffic and sealed on the side of the road.

Wording for signs near major rivers. 'This river is 100 % certified to be less polluted than some in Indonesia.'

Ummm... by definition, things in Botanical Gardens are cultivated, and therefore *not* natural beauty.

Although I don't think it is just tourists that are the problem. I think the number of people we are letting in is also a major problem. Not only has it made houses too expensive for those kiwis already living here, but it has meant urban sprawl. I get that some companies are calling out for workers, especially low paid ones. But that sort of thing is cyclical. When the recession hits, we are likely go to end up with a heap of people unemployed, so IMO it is false economy to be letting in so many people. All it is doing is making some people a heck of a lot of money, largely  from housing.
