Hi

I have a couple of personal packages coming from Aus and NYC. Both appear to be stuck at the airport. US JFK since apr 12 and Aus Syd since Apr 8.

Has anyone else had this issue? I presume just no flights?

Frustrating. I need the equipment for work. Stuff I left behind escaping covid in NYC. Alas such is life!

Anyway thanks for your help

There are substantial delays out of Australia. Australia post is experiencing delays due to Covid 19 response. (reduced staff etc..)

There's many fewer flights, and packages are delayed. I can say DHL from the UK to NZ is operating at about the same speed as usual - we needed some essentials for our toddler that weren't available in NZ.

Thanks. It’s Aus post and USPS. I should’ve used UPS or FedEx. But the price difference was substantial. Oh well I’ll just wait. Weird it’s been stuck at the airport for so long but I imagine because it’s in both USA and Aus it’s a covid thing rather than an individual package thing.

I have a package still with USPS in Chicago since 24th March. Few days before the 24th March status updates were switching between saying on its way to NZ and on its way back to the Chicago distribution centre. I'm guessing the package was meant to go on the ORD-AKL flight but I believe that is no longer operating now.

USPS hands over to NZ Post for delivery within NZ. I have a mate working for NZ Post saying they're twiddling their thumbs waiting for shipments of mail/packages so sounds like the delays mostly on the overseas end.

Oh well my package is not 100% essential so I'm not too worried. But hopefully those waiting for essential stuff from overseas gets their packages soon!

Mine will be essential next week! In need it for my work in the hospital. I guess no point losing sleep over it but frustrating nonetheless. Good to know it’s not lost however. Thanks

There are massive global shipping issues and have been for the past 6 weeks or so. Even before the lockdown I had a DHL consignment of 6 packages that sat in Hong Kong for over a week.

Do not expect this to be resolved any time soon - or for parcels to arrive any time soon.

Yep getting resigned to that fact. Surprising some stuff from chains arrived pretty quick though. Anyway we’ll see. Thanks

So after all that my Aussie shipment has landed just now. It never had a departure scan from Aus. Let’s hope it’s real and not a mistake.

I hope my US package gets here. That’s the essential one.

I've had similar experiences with a number of couriers of late. Just never scanned into the system at all and they just turn up on your porch.

I've shipped out some stuff from the UK to my folks in NZ, usually it's there in 6 days with royal mail, it's been over 3 weeks now. It will get there when it gets there.

Yep - Package in Chicago as well - ship date 18th March, last update 25th March.

Can't source locally, AU or China so stuck waiting. Annoying - but glad I'm here rather than there.

Their lockdown is till the 30th though there are articles on the Chicago Tribune suggesting it might run to June.

In my experience USPS is always slow moving through the US (in the order of weeks) once it hits Auckland, NZ Post takes over then it moves as usual. USPS uses various passenger airlines to move their packages.

UPS have their own airline and are quick to Auckland (via Sydney) but their nz contractor is Flyway and at the moment are not delivering anything none essential (They've had a package of mine since before the lockdown)

Fedex also have their own airline and are the better of the 3 Iv'e found but cost about 3 - 4 times as much.

Incidentally I had a package on USPS leave Chicago then arrive back at Chicago a week later, this one took almost 3 weeks just to leave the States.

Thought I’d add a data point.

Item arrived at JFK on 12/4. Just had an update that it is cleared for departure from NYC today which is 28th. 16 days later.

Hope it helps.
