Ive noticed monthly $30.50 charges on my credit card, the note says "EZI EDUCATION Auckland".  Google hasn't found me anything so far.

Does anyone know what company this is for?

I can query it with my bank but wondered if someone at GZ knows what it's for which would be faster.  Mrs Duck doesn't remember signing my son up for anything, but if it has a different name it might not have triggered her memory (she signs up for a lot of things).

Any help appreciated.

Nope, zilch here as well. I'd query it with the bank and get a hold put on it - if its legit, someone will be in touch to query a missing payment.

Contacted my bank (ASB) and they said the only solution was to cancel the credit card :(   I guess once they have my details there's nothing to stop them from charging each month.   I had imagined there would be a way for the bank to stop that company from being allowed to bill my card, but I guess not.

Bummer.

Go back to ASB and request a chargeback on that transaction. Explain that you did not authorise it. Visa/Mastercard rules states that banks must investigate transactions if a customer requests a chargeback.

Really poor form of ASB to give you incorrect information.

I think they are doing that too, he mentioned something about trying to get me a refund.

But are you saying that I shouldn't have had to cancel the card?

The card should only be cancelled if there was reason to believe the card details had been compromised and used without your permission. If it's just a case of not knowing to whom the payment was going, or a refund was due for some other reason (e.g. returned goods, cancelled subscriptions), then no, the card wouldn't need to be cancelled. In the first case the bank should investigate and provide details to you of what the payment was for, and in the second case it's just a chargeback.

Damn, they didn't offer that at all, just said all they could do was cancel card.

Any number of companies have charge names that do not match bill names or their own company names. I suggest reviewing your regular monthly purchases. Could be one of those. Is it monthly on the dot?

Ditto & do you receive email notifications or statements for the payment? Got any mobile apps with Ezi Education as the developer?
