Has anyone tried this overseas. I haven't heard much about them, although I do know about In-N-Out and apparently they are the bomb (according to Gordon Ramsay...would love to see them here) - but can Marky Mark make a good burger?

I'd like to try Wahlburgers when it opens but can't find a menu that shows what pricing will be. Is it going to be mega expensive or fairly reasonably priced? For those that have had it, is the menu any good? Is there an NZ equivalent (eg, Burger Fuel, Burger Wisconsin, etc?) The menu certainly has a few different things I wouldn't mind trying.

We tried it in Hawaii. Dont remember it being bad or incredibly good, never eat anywhere else again either. Just nice to try once. Pity the service wont be like it is in the US.

So, it was okay, but not exactly the second coming of Christ or anything? It doesn't sound like it stood out like some of the other chains. I hear differing things about Fergburger too, while I think of it, but have never tried that one either.

To tell the truth it was really busy so we got taken to the bar side to wait and I had a beer or two while waiting for the order. The bartender was really good and kept us watered well so the memory of the food was a bit fuzzy if you know what I mean.

I've read so many negative things about Wahlburgers, but I can't help thinking that there are a few reasons for this:

People don't like the Wahlberg family
specific experience with a local store
Expensive
Not that different to anyone else in the "big burgers" game

I'll go give it a whirl at some stage, I am sure.

Likely to be using locally source ingredients, so it is quite likely the burgers will have a different taste to the USA versions. Grass fed beef vs Grain fed beef.

Looks like another crap burger chain. They've just paid a bunch of $$$ for a media hype campaign at the moment to test the waters before Australia

Agree. We were lucky enough to be in Queenstown after the first lockdown so there weren't a lot of people around and didn't have to queue to get anything from them.
I would have been rather annoyed if we had queued for any amount of time to get what was nothing like I was expecting, going by all the hype I've seen/heard about them.

I like Fergburger but it is definitely over-hyped. There is a limit to how good a burger can get!

We chatted to some people from overseas while in the queue for a Fergburger, and the main gist seemed to be that where THEY were from they simply didn't have 'gourmet' burgers. So it was a huge novelty for them. Whereas for kiwis its a been there done that before experience.

The Fergburger bakery next door is pretty tasty though.

Ferg was yummy and the ingredients tasted fresh but we go Queenstown 2-3 times a year and can safely say that there is definitely an element of hype.

For us, we get it almost every time we are down there because it is decent size and reasonably good value.

We never wait in line (I lie, I did wait in line aages ago when I went there in my teens with uni mates for the mardi gras)

We almost always make phone order and then make our way from the hotel after making the order. They'll give an approx ETA.
