Day 2 of the trial of TPB in Sweden.

Avast, ye scurvy sea dogs!! half of the charges have been dropped. Harr Harr, me hearties!

In a spectacular fail, the prosecuting team doesnt understand bit torrent protocol, and TPB leadership poke fun at them in a series of hilarious posts.

I find myself supporting TPB hard. Not least 'cos of the fact that the bit torrent protocol will fall over completely if they get shut down.

The force is strong with this one!

I fail to see how TPB going down would effect the bit torrent protocol.

Just like if one server shuts down does not shut down the FTP procol.

Basically the way bit torrent works , as long as you have a tracker server and sufficient people with near complete copy of the file it will still work. TPB is only 1 of many torrent servers. There are also many businesses that distribute their stuff using bit torrent technology.

If the TPB does get shut down some of us will cry. But it will not stop the bit torrent protocol completely

Maybe it wont fall over completely (ok ok i got carried away)but it will still be chaos for a while. Tracking over 50% of all torrents according to the above.

Could be setting up for a spectacular fail-all our eggs in one basket so to speak.

Makes you wonder if the RIAA tards would stoop to terrorism and blow up TPBs servers it would work just as well lol

After the fantastic success of sect 92 here in NZ next week the RIAA with then try and bribe all other Govs around the world to introduce the same legislation except this time it will the death penalty and not having your internet cut off.. That's how they will close TPB.

Day 3 summary in a nutshell.

TPB claims they are nothing more than a search engine and that no copyrighted material ever passes through it's servers. They claim they are no different to using Google and adding filetype:torrent

Sounds like sensationalist talk to me quite frankly. Yes if TPB goes down torrent traffic world wide might be affected. But it won't mean a thing to the protocol it uses. The concept and methodology of the Bittorrent protocol is already out there in both commercial and residential applications. You can't really put that genie back in the bottle.

If TPB goes down I have no doubt in my mind that something else somewhere else would raise up in it's place. I still very much doubt a huge "chain reaction" will results in taking ALL Bit torrent trackers off line. What they going to do require all ISPs in the world suddenly start refusing bit torrent packets ????

I thought TPB servers had been moved out of Sweden after they got raided last time?
So even if TPB do lose how are they going to force them to shutdown the servers that aren't even in the country??

I had a look at their graph for "top 20 bit torrent trackers" , their so called proof that 50% of Bittorrent tracker goes through TPB.

Except for pirate bay none of them were trackers I have ever used. None of them are trackers that have every come up from a random torrent search.None of the popular ones I use are on their. None of them are ones that come up from a google search for torrents.

Me thinks their so called "scientific study by a panel of experts" has skewed results that show what they want people to see (ie lying with statistics by omitting stuff)

they have servers around the world now, so if one country goes down the next will be up in minutes
