NOt sure I want to give too many details of how bad our existing system is, it basically consists of a very old keypad and a couple of pir's in the corners of the lounge and one bedroom - none of which are actually connected to anything. Have been looking at the cleverloop for some time and like the look of the system.

I've no idea what brand our system is except it's a pain in the proverbial.

The alarm constantly goes off for unknown reasons (we think it might be sun-related) so whenever we go out we have to make sure we always close the curtains to avoid pi$$ing off the neighbours.

The outfit that installed it doesn't seem to know what the problem is either.

When we go away for extended periods (like overnight) we always leave our entry keys with neighbours so they can shut the alarm up if it's triggered.

Fortunately we have very patient and understanding neighbours!

You need to change installers immediately!

If they don't know what's causing the alarm to go off, they are incompetent at their job and the alarm isn't doing what you have PAID them to do.

Diagnosing domestic alarms is trivial.

It's either;

1. A faulty or incorrect type of sensor.

2. A sensor in the wrong place.

3. A faulty cable

4. A cowboy installer doing sh#t wrong.

Don't put up with poor workmanship, remember you've paid good money for a product.

I sleep with my trusty golf clubs. 7 iron comes in handy to get rid of unwanted intruders and I get to practice my swing too.

Bosch alarm, Arlo camera system, several highly trained attack-cats who work alongside several motivated guard-chickens. Lets not mention the dogs. :-D

Do the PIR sensors in the rental place that aren't connected to anything at all? something lightweight and easy to move would be quite useful!

My current system is a basic Paradox alarm with a bunch of PIR sensors - no internet or phone links, but does have a couple of remotes.

Alarm system of unknown brand installed by the sparky when we built the home... went off when we tried to set up the codes, realised our housing company had given us incorrect codes .. Thankfully, decided to turn itself off .. lucky as it was after 9PM, even luckier both Kids slept thorough it which is surprising as the internal screamer is outside both there bedrooms. We now have the correct codes but my wife is to scared to turn it on
