1024kb: Oh, the racism beat-up - that was Philip. He’s embarrassing & hilarious & the good man behind his good woman, QE2. He’s also 99 years old & will not change his attitude - he’s spent his life being one of the world’s most powerful men. Any throwaway remark perceived as racist came from him, stop beating up on the claim of an unattributed, unrepeated insult. Video or it didn’t happen.

The noise around this speculation is only created to justify the stupid price tag paid to these freeloaders for, well, nothing of any value.

Last thing - Kate did not make you cry. Nobody can make you cry. You decide to make yourself cry, that’s the truth. If you’re wrapped in a cosseted world of fabulous wealth & privilege that you managed to sneak into by f*kcing a ginger then spend the rest of your earthly days marvelling at your incredible luck, & maybe try to pay it forward somehow. Bursting into tears in that environment must rank among the weakest & most selfish social interactions of all time.

@freitasm: I find this post offensive.

It seems some people here would need some sensitivity training.

If it is not clear yet to some, mental health issues have a huge impact on people's lives.

If you need help, here are some links to services that you can use:

https://www.health.govt.nz/your-health/services-and-support/health-care-services/mental-health-services/mental-health-services-where-get-help

https://www.mentalhealth.org.nz/get-help/in-crisis/helplines/

https://depression.org.nz/

It would be good if people stopped mocking disabilities. All those armchair psychologists...

😞

Oh dear...

Stuff: “We’re very much not a racist family,” William said

This is only going to cue a list of all the racial things the royal family has said over the years.

Say nothing or say more

Charles was pictured with coloured people straight after the interview and William was with this announcement. Coincidence? They need to admit "some" issues of that regard and that they are working on it. Denial is possibly more harmful than being silent. It's so much easier to be honest, those digging for dirty laundry won't then need to. Or the administration of the Firm, as distinct from the direct Royal Family, are highly likely to be hardcore traditionalists and all that goes with it. Its not the King Arther era now

1024kb: Video or it didn’t happen.

Don't know which incident you're asking for video of. Let's start with Prince Harry:

Guardian: video footage in which he called a fellow cadet at Sandhurst a "Paki" and another a "raghead".

Is there anything where he is being bigotted? He says this is my Paki friend, which seems to me as endearment and descriptive and not demeaning. Raghead he is demeaning Al Queda and Taliban. Is that racist against Middle East people? It seems decriptive and demeaning of terrorists, not race or ethnicity

Let me help you work that out:

Definition of 'raghead'

raghead in British English

(ˈræɡˌhɛd)

noun

offensive, rare, especially US

an offensive term for a person who wears a turban, keffiyeh, etc

Collins English Dictionary. Copyright © HarperCollins Publishers

Thanks, so its a general bigotted term for Middle East people. Harry is clearly as racist as the rest of them then. Except when it suits obviously

Probably not surprising given his upbringing, but nevertheless, unacceptable

Any term in any language is only ever offensive if the listener decides to be offended by it.

So much is often about context, something that often doesn't exist in print nor in one sided recollections.

If he had a close personal relationship with someone of ethnicity and it was their typical style of banter where those terms were used, what of it? Whilst to the outside they can be construed as racist and / or derogatory, "if" that was an accepted term between them, its no one else's business. Granted though, in Harry's former position, it was at best unwise (but then, much of his earlier antics were unwise).

Batman:

you may or may not want to read this.

Piers Morgan doesn't believe a word she says. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/piers-morgans-resignation-from-good-morning-britain-costing-itv-360-million/UZW2I2MN52NM3PX6MMHQKPIYCA/

I don't believe a word that comes out of Piers Morgan's mouth, and the damage he has done to the profession of journalism is enormous and frankly contemptible.

Also I could imagine that Meghan went to senior staff to talk about mental health issues and they would have replied "Keep a stiff upper lip, tally-ho. Now let us have some tea and crumpets" Thinking that was all that was needed to be said or done.

No. A specifc term can be like that but not if the term is widely known as offensive. Sean Wallace is good example, Dark Destroyer. He likes that description. he is dark. He is the intellectual destroyer. But to use an offensive term to a friend or involving a friend is just normalising that offensive term.

That's how I initially saw it, its not an offensive "action" to/about his friend, but if it uses a common offensive term, that's just making light of that term.

Absolutely not. And sometimes someone doesn't show signs of being offended because doing so could be bad for them - the person could be excluded from groups afterwards, be seen as "liberal" or something else.

Just because someone doesn't say something it doesn't mean that thing is not offensive.

Just because something is offensive to someone doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to say it.
