Do you mind if I join you guys as well? I got a Hilux that I can upgrade with some sort of ramming mechanism to put on the front bull bars and also a decent axe and chainsaw if needed.

lol, I plan an awful lot of the time. When I am bored at work or in the car I take a look around me and plan what I would do if it was to happen that moment.
Where would I head to first?
What escape routes do I have?
What weapons are availble?

Some call me crazy for doing it, but I call it being prepared :)

I'm located in Hamilton, so if you guys are near by then you can surely join in my group!

Your gonna try survive in the North Island!? That's where most of the population is..

I live down south. If there is a zombie break out I'm going off the grid.

Coming to AMC this Halloween:

The Walking Dead "chronicles the travels of a group of people trying to survive in a world stricken by a zombie apocalypse. A television series was announced to be in production on August 11, 2009. The series won the 2010 Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series at the San Diego Comic Convention."

No idea when/if it's coming to New Zealand TV...

Me too!

I can't help but think, if everyone down there was taking zombies seriously then they would have been better prepared for the earthquake (in terms of survival supplies)

I have also picked up a coconut from the supermarket today...
I am planning to wrap it in a plastic bag, then some duct tape, another plastic bag and more duct tape.

The reason is to try break it open, according the the Zombie Combat Manual, the above requires a similar amount of force to break that a human skull does.

Will try it out over the weekend, any suggestions on types of weapon to use on it?  I am thinking my short handled axe, since this is my weapon of choice.

Sledge-hammer?

Sledge-hammer would be fine, however I would find it too heavy to swing and fatigue would be a big problem (training would solve this though)

Sledge-hammer has its uses, for example, dispatching zombies that are already on the ground.

But in my test I am going to simulate the "head" still being attached to the body. I am going to hang it from a tree and secure the base to the ground, kinda like those boxing training bags.
