None of the warehouse stores near me are responding to calls by telephone. What's the point of having phones you don't answer over a 2 day period.

Takes them forever to answer emails and chat is pretty much hopeless.

... Metlink offering free travel for Gold Card holders from 9am* to 3pm week days and then after 6:30pm while Auckland Transport offers free travel after 9am until midnight.

Why Aucklanders can use their SuperGold Card for travel during the afternoon peak: The afternoon peak concession in Auckland, from 3.00pm to 6.30pm on weekdays, is not part of the scheme. It is currently funded by Auckland Council. The concession is under review by Auckland Transport.

A "This device does not support 4K playback" message on a 10-core machine with an RDNA graphics card and 5k display. The message lies. It's not the "device" that doesn't support 4K. It's the movie/website vendor artificially blocking it for political reasons.

Edit: It's even more stupid! If I click the button to watch on Apple TV, then load the Apple TV app on the same computer then 4k playback works fine.

Purchased a new Android phone for personal use along side my work iPhone. Picked up one that has a > FHD screen only to find this requirement: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/116633

... And no FHD playback.

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.

Geektastic: How long before we join the modern world?

Well depends. When I lived in England, money coming off my debit card didn't show as being spent straight away. I found that odd.
And the weekend delays will more or less be AML related ultimately, even if it's a small amount.

It doesn't here either. I often get "pending" entries in my accounts.

AML is a huge PITA.

And it doesn't achieve a damn thing, if the drugs available outside every dairy are anything to go by. And I am not talking about cannabis.

Having 2 12 week old kittens desexed and then being told we have to keep them from running, fighting, climbing or being too active for between 10 and 14 days. LolWUT?

Has the vet ever seen kittens before? Short of hog tieing them, how do they imagine one might do that? We will restrict them to a single room for a few days but beyond that, it's cruel and unusual punishment.

Checking for a stud at five different heights along a wall, getting a perfect vertical lineup where a stud should run, drilling on the line, and hitting... batts.

There was a second perfect vertical line a bit off to the left, which also yielded batts.

Finally a third line actually was a stud. The only explanation I can find is that an NCV detector alerted all over that wall, which doesn't make sense unless the crappy 1970s alu-foil-backed gib on the other side is touching an exposed conductor somewhere. Even then, the fact that I got a perfect line for a stud where there wasn't one is odd.

Edited to add: Second thing, finding a minor typo right after clicking Save.

At least 8 lots of lengthy (several hundred metre stretches) 30km/h roadworks between Turangi and Hunterville, on SH1 during the business-day, with 4 of those single-lane stop-go controlled.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

Ugh. I drove through there last week. What's also annoying is they have the Cement Splashes, Please Wash Car signs. Erm I'm in a motel the next two nights, not sure they'll let me drag a hose out!

My smart tv box was running hot so I unplugged to let it cool down. Plugged it in this evening...dead, not a light on it, but warm to touch so there’s life somewhere inside. Useful for hatching an egg maybe.

Random aches and pains.

My ankle is really sore. I didn't injure it, woke up like that yesterday. Doesn't hurt if I don't move it. feels like a nerve is squashed or something, but not exactly like that.

freitasm: @networkn are test results back yet?

Nope! Thankfully symptoms seem to be easing (they weren't terrible to start with). My son was a 6/10 yesterday and 5/10 today mostly just his cough annoying him now.

Took 24 hours for one of my staff to get their results, we are hoping we can get results back tomorrow, as we had weekend plans that if we were symptom free and negative we could make use of, but are resigned quietly to being stuck at home if results are delayed.

It's frustrating to see so many people getting tests who aren't indicated to need one, it's clogging up the entire system.

Ads for block-placing puzzles (e.g. blockudoku) with IQ scores. Apparently, incorrectly placing all the blocks apart from one (which of course doesn't fit) in a cat-shaped puzzle indicates an IQ of 120.

I mean, really??? Surely a pretty stupid chimpanzee could manage that. Probably you could train any mammal (excluding sheep) and some arachnids to do that.  I mean, how stupid do they think people are? I mean, just doing one of these puzzles indicates a sub-100 IQ. Thinking that they give an estimate of your IQ would make it sub-90. Paying for it would make it sub-80.
