The developers of Nerdle, a puzzle that requires concentration, have decided to add an animated ad to the page to distract you. Fortunately I was able to CSS it into oblivion, but still. Now I just need to dive into the JavaScript at some point and hook up the Enter key to submit a guess.

Edit: They've added a "hide ad" link :)

Feeling like crap after my COVID booster.

Thought it was the after-effects of the sedatives, but it's not. It's the old booster-lurgy.

frankv:

Ads for block-placing puzzles (e.g. blockudoku) with IQ scores.

Well they have to invent something to get you to play it, otherwise who would install a toddler block puzzle on their cellphone.

The scary thing is we don't seem to be anywhere close to peak dot-com-2.0 yet.

Heads up - it‘s a strong indicator that your immune system is intact.

When you are home isolating due to having had a covid test, waiting on results, so you order a bunch of stuff so you can spend the weekend cooking and having some fun, and countdown substitute exactly one *critical* ingredient from every planned dish and no you can't proceed.

If I am lucky, my result comes in soon and if it's negative, I can do a quick run around to find some of the items, but what a PITA.

Every single planned dish!

Random aches and pains.

My ankle is really sore. I didn't injure it, woke up like that yesterday. Doesn't hurt if I don't move it. feels like a nerve is squashed or something, but not exactly like that.

Gout?

Do you have a large dog, and does it like chewing bones?

Try wearing a different pair of shoes, not the same ones every day. It will change your foots pronation and can often ease the stress on the foot.

Nerve pain or even osteoarthritis responds well to any cream containing Capsaicin. Think chilli. The slight burning sensation tricks the nerves and the heat soothes.

Talking my elderly grandmother (93!!) through to her email on her iPad (as I'd emailed her links to family videos on YouTube) only to hear bloody Siri everytime she pressed the home button.
The one time she did manage unlock it, the iPad is open to her settings (presumably that's the last thing someone used) and we can go no further. Argh!

Every day the press mention 'record' case numbers. Yes we get it, but it's going to increase every day now we don't need any sense of occasion around it.

'will today's break yesterdays record' ah yes. Yes it will. That's how it works.

Ask her if there's a thin horizontal white line at the bottom of the screen.  If she slowly pushes that up and drops it in the middle of the screen it should perform the same function.  AKA swipe up from bottom edge but using that white line to explain makes it easier over the phone.  Is she in a rest home?  See if a staff member can assit

She was not keen on persevering unfortunately. She's not in a home yet, so she's doing ok, just missed the IT thing by a few years or so I guess. My aunt doesn't live too far away and was able to show her the videos. Had some fifty year old 8mm film digitised and was stoked how they came out.

Those severe storms with windspeeds up to 152 kmph since a week here. Sleepless nights due to the noise.

Trade Me fees.

They have reached stratospheric levels - I sold some expensive binoculars and the fees were not far off 10%!
