Geektastic:

elpenguino: Great photo! And a great thing for kids to experience.

I would keep your kids away. Certain species of seal eat penguins...

I'd be more worried about nuns...

I look forward to the day the Trump thread becomes equally dead as a dodo.

I'm not, that's my daily entertainment, what crazy thing has the buffoon done today? It's a break from real news.

Another smile day. I managed to walk from our bedroom to the lounge which is around 30 meters. May not sound like much but every meter is good.

Well done! (I remember the milestones well when re-learning to walk etc after a stroke)

I really enjoy the Repair Shop, which is a lovely English series on both NZ and Oz TV. It is so sweet and unassuming, and seeing the people at work is a real pleasure, also the reactions of the customers. There is something almost unbearably wholesome about this programme, which has a real English village feel to it. If only the world really was so pure and simple.

And kind!

Well done!

You reminded me of my brother in law. He was very down about not being able to walk, but the day came when he was doing a wee jig to show us how far he had come. He was shouting 'look I’m dancing.' Don’t underestimate the power of the mind.

Same with my neighbour, many years ago he had an work accident where the doctors said he'd never walk again. After two years of intense effort he was running from his home on the North Shore out to west Auckland (via the upper harbour bridge) where he worked.

A few years ago he had a stroke and has been in heart failure since then. Again, the doctors said he'd be in a wheelchair from now on. He still walks, a bit unsteady at times but not in a wheelchair. His attitude is amazing, he's always positive about life and his prospects, he never gives up.
