freitasm:

Some people have no awareness. Touching someone else's tools/furniture/computer/phone without asking is an ultimate social sin.

The ideal flow for something like this is "What's this thing? (Touch) (Touch) (Touch) (Touch) Ewww! What's the gunk all over my hands? Why can't I get it off?".

(Penetrol is pretty resistant to removal).

Of course, when you say "don't touch that" while they're touching something, they reply with "I'm only looking!" as if that allows them to continue touching it.

The Christchurch City Council as usual!

Spend 10s of Millions of Ratepayer and Tax Payer $$$$$$$$$$$ on Cycleways which are never swept unlike the Roads.

Wife has had more punctures on the new Cycleway between here and work this year than in 10 years using the Road!

You are better off riding on the Road. At least it is swept regularly and you expect other traffic. Last week she met head on a car driving up the Cycleway with NO room to get past!

Ring the CCC to find out if they ever sweep them, and advise them of a particular section that is really bad, only to get told that unless I give them ALL of my details they will not process the job.

How are my details relevant to the problem?

(Thanks for the vent!)

Eagerly waiting for a parcel to arrive from Amazon.  It arrived a full week early (yay!) only to find that some jerk has opened the parcel and filched the contents.  Amazon won't send a replacement, just a refund, so I'm back to square one and faced with waiting (even longer now) for what I originally ordered.

Incidentally, if anyone has a Conbee II zigbee USB stick to sell, let me know...

If not a replacement at least a refund. That's probably better than what you'd get with some other online retailers.

Yeah, Amazon are usually pretty good with refunds.  Just the annoyance of waiting a couple of weeks for it to arrive, having it nicked, and then having to wait again for a new parcel.

Cycle lanes are just as bad, full of puncture causing detritus. To be avoided at all costs IMO.

Your details are irrelevant. I'm guessing the on screen form they fill out has those fields and it cannot be filed until they are filled out.

"Remember we exist"-type emails from companies. Today's is from Sony, telling me that "PlayStation Plus is changing". The email tells me that my current subscription will still work, that it'll do the same thing it does now, and that it'll remain the same price.

So what's changing? "Details will be announced soon". So it's an email that tells me absolutely nothing of value.

Edit: Forgot to say that the subject line begins with "Please read:" as if it contains critical information.

Been subscribing to a magazine from the UK for years. They decided to take subs 'in house', or whatever its called. So now do they not only not do overseas subs any more (well, maybe in the near future), but i can't get into their new subs page to find out if the near future has arrived yet.

It's not a question of paying people to make it, it's that people will watch it no matter how cheaply made it is. Was up a Mother Neb's a few days ago and she wanted to sit and watch something on TV together after dinner. I looked in the TV guide and there was literally nothing on any channel, all day, that wasn't complete and utter drivel. I couldn't identify a single program that was worth watching. So if all you're screening is garbage than you may as well make it the cheapest garbage you can produce, and I'm guessing a program that involves a ladder, some random celebrity(?) to climb up it, an iPhone for filming, and an unpaid non-union cat is pretty cheap to make.

But surely the cat would be the highest paid?

Definitely the worst to work with.
