Honestly it's just a talk show. Our local media now report on talk shows. USA went down this road a while back and we are following.

A story in today’s Herald about Sir Peter Jackson’s WW1 aircraft company, The Vintage Aviator, has a file photo showing two airborne aircraft with the caption “Vintage Aviator manufactures reproductions of World War I era aircraft.”

The photo shows two De Havilland Tiger Moths.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Yes, World War One ended in 1918, and the biplane De Havilland Tiger Moth didn't fly until the 1930's.

However if the reporter / editor is under 30, I'd give them credit for knowing that biplanes were used during World War One.

You could say Peter Jackson perpetuated the wrong timeline, since during the last "World World War Remembrance Day", the Tiger Moth featured heavily including the ribbon cutting.

The plane does look the part.

I am conflicted by this article on RNZ. It is about road safety, and I agree with it. The problem is a quote by Senior Sergeant Murray Henderson, who says that two cars colliding at 100 kph have an impact speed of 200 kmh. This is incorrect, and a senior police traffic officer should know that. It may seem counter-intuitive, and a lot of people make the mistake, but the impact speed of two cars colliding is divided between the cars, so if they are each travelling at 100 kph, each will experience the same impact as if it hit a stationary wall. The impact force is not doubled.

Jamie Hyneman of Mythbusters made the same mistake and was called up on it by viewers. The show then broadcast a retraction and an explanation of why the impact force was not doubled.

Road safety is a serious issue and I applaud any efforts to improve driver behaviour, but I think it is important that police statements on the subject be absolutely true. Otherwise there is a risk of them not being taken seriously.

You're absolutely right, but...

It assume the cars weigh the same.

I was watching a video about how US car safety.

A weird one is "roll-over" car safety, which you'd think means "if a car rolls over, how safe are you?" but actually just uses basic maths, no movement involved, to figure out how likely a car is to rolling over.
