Kyanar:stevenz:cokemaster: This game planet thread has some awesome ownage of a trade me scammer - very amusing (but cruel) reading.
I hope I never meet either of them, they both sound uniquely unpleasant.
Ye gods, that thread is the best support I've ever seen for a law like the US' Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
qwerty7: why? that pr*ck deserved everything he got
The only unfair debt collection practices in my opinion would be physical violence, just because someone owes you money it doesn't give you the right to go around and beat them up, although it would be nice.
IlDuce: Now why the need to mention this is I am now going through it all again. I want to buy a specific motorcycle, but just getting the usual "I just want to let the auction run/I'll just wait and see if I get more", now from 3 sellers in a row.
IlDuce:
Now I could totally understand this if I was low-balling them on their price, but I am offering them what they want/their asking price... but they think people will talk them UP on their asking price or something??
dolsen: Just to confirm, are you asking them to withdraw their auction, annoy all of the other bidders,?and sell it to you outside of trademe because you want it now, or, are they classifieds?
?
IlDuce: My frustration on TradeMe is people who have listed things on there, but don't seem to want to sell them!
In 2009 I wanted to buy a specific car. I approached one seller and asked "how much would you like for this, i.e the price your happy to sell it at?"... their response "$1800", my response "I can come over tomorrow or whenever suits, with the $1800 in cash and take it away no questions/dramas"... their response "nah, I'll just wait and see if I get more" !!?? In the end they didn't get more, or even the same, in fact it went for $1400 and thats after dealing with many more people and questions over following 2 weeks.
This happened exactly the same with the second person I approached.
The third person - finally - was great. I got off the phone to them, drove the 2 hours to their place, handed over the cash, paperwork complete, and was out of there.

But realistically is that not what an aution is all about? Its an auction website, not the classifieds.
dclegg: After a couple of months we noted that he still hadn't sold ... So the house garners no interest, and he thinks he can INCREASE the asking price? Madness!

Madness alright! Just like people who (for example) have an auction that is $50 reserve start, and nobody ever bids, yet each time it closes they do a FPO of $100?? Uhhh, If during the course of 7 days nobody puts a minimum bid of $50 on, then why would they pay double by FPO?
