Banshee was great - apart from:

1. Moody female character being moody - a lot.
2. Antony Starr sleeping with EVERY female character.
3. Random gratuitous sex scenes that really do zero for the story (I get it is Cinemaxx, but meh - they were cringeworthy)

Otherwise really cool - just watch out for some pretty nasty physical violence stuff if that puts you off.

Job (played by Hoon Lee) was my favourite character.

wait for boxing match, most violent fight i have seen on any program or film.

Yep, gathered the general violent/sex theme from the first episode. A couple of moments even had me wincing. Just when you think you have seen everything....

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Grim would certainly be the word for that...!!

Is it my imagination, or has the latest GoT had the sex and nudity censors across it? There seems to be far less than there was in the initial series.

There was a rumour that one of the actresses said no more boobs - from last nights episode I'd say that was dany.

Plenty of violence this season - just less sex scenes. Can't say I care.

Based on the mention of this show in a few posts in this thread I watched the first episode last night on BBC iPlayer. Yes, it's grim for sure, but I must admit to being quite underwhelmed overall; I doubt I'll watch the later ones, given I have so many other programmes I haven't finished or even started yet.

What is it about UK TV (and film) makers that they see the need to stick so close to tried and tested formulas, and to demonstrate a lack of a subtle hand? A small example - early on in the episode one of Hinterland we are shown an old photo of a house; later on, the main guy pulls up outside the property. We're not trusted to have recognised it from the earlier showing, so he pulls out the photo and we see - eureka! - it's the same one!

It's so funny that a few decades ago many (in NZ) would have said the UK makes the best TV; now it's hard (and I think impossible) to justify that line, unless you're just not exposed to the best on offer. Even UK TV programmes at their best (Sherlock; Luther) aren't a match for that produced in the US - ccompare these detective shows to True Dectective, for example. And what's the UK's equivalent of such dramatic masterpieces like The Wire (best programme ever, IMO)?

For once I want to be blown away by a non-US TV programme - any title which people can put forward that may achieve this?

try Utopia or the first series of the Misfits. Really good original dramas.

For those of you watching Fargo, are you buying the episodes through Amazon, Vudu, etc? I have a Roku and that's the only method I can see of watching them.

Or is it on SoHo?

As it happens, Richard, the wife and I watched thefirst series. Yes, seriously we did! Sometimes there's nothing like a bit of trash tv for entertainment value (Beauty and the Geek anyone?), and while we managed to get through the first series, one can have too much of a good thing...

I have to admit I relented and got Soho. Now I am just catching up on season 3 of Homeland . Lucky for me Sky ran an omnibus of the whole season because I only signed up in time for the last 2 episodes of the season. Now if only they would do the same for The Americans and Justified since I missed the first couple of episodes of each.

I watched it this morning before my shift. Thought it was pretty good! Will definitely watch more.
I don't really know whether it's just "inspired" by events or not, good story nonetheless. Recommend.
