What a idiot, wonder how long before auction is pulled.

"Broke student" my ass, if you can afford ~$600 for the tickets in the first place!

Should have joined the fan club, seriously considered it but though nah I'll be at my computer on the dot the presale and general sale.

Missed out both times despite trying as soon as the find tickets button became active.

Kicking myself now!

Feeling hate for the promotor, Vector Arena is way too small a venue for a band like Metallica.  Also feeling hate for for Ticket Master's queue system which failed to find tickets even though I tried multiple times within seconds of the find tickets button becoming active on the page.

I suspect some physical outlets opened slightly before the website at 9am (and 12 for the presale) and sucked up all the tickets.

I had no trouble getting tickets in any of the presales.  For a start, the physical outlets don't sell tickets for the presales, it's internet only.  Secondly, just because you are on the website at 9am sharp and tried to find tickets as soon as possible doesn't mean you entered the queue withing seconds or were anywhere near the front of the queue.  You have to choose which tickets you want, the number, then the have to "Find Tickets". You're not there yet, still have to enter the security check and continue.  With all the people trying to do the same thing, a moments hesitation is all it takes to miss out.

I do understand it's disappointing to miss out, but hating the promotor and Ticketmaster doesn't seem right.  If anything, hate yourself for being too slow.  I don't think automated bots are a big problem in NZ yet, so if the tickets sold out, real people were in there before you.  I would honestly say that I have had great luck ticket-wise in the past, but I work fast.  I am probably in the queue before most people have looked at the security check.

Here is a question (bit off topic) is it legal to onsell the tickets for a profit on Trademe? Should I report the listings that are now on there?

I don't believe it's "illegal" but it's against the T&C (Ticketmaster and Trademe if they don't have tickets in hand). Ticketmaster reserves the right to cancel the tickets I believe, but I dont know how often they inforce that.

My how things change. They couldn't fill Queens Wharf Events Centre in 1998, now people are clamouring over each other for tickets - and the band are less than half as good as they used to be!

Having said that I'm still insanely jealous of everyone who's going! hee hee!

Hmm yeah I read on one of the other topics that it isn't illegal but it is frowned upon. I feel for the people who missed out though cause people want to make a quick buck. Wish there was something we could do but I suppose there isnt.

No point reporting the auctions, that would only deprive people of tickets even more. It is just a shame the price goes up so fast for them!

I would report them, but it's up to trademe to do something about it.  I know it's hard to resist but if no one bought tickets of scalpers then there wouldn't be a market for them.  If I ever have spares to concerts, and I often do, I always find someone who will take it at face value.  Even (or especially) really hard to get tickets which I could make a bundle off.  I figure it's what keeps my ticket luck going, karma and all that.  if I tried to abuse the system, eventually it would catch up with me and I wouldn't get ticekts to that show I really want to go to.

I should've bought some more tickets today to distribute to people that missed out.  I could be like Robin Hood or something! ;)  Seriously, if people need tickets in future, let me know and I will hook you up if I can!

Agreed, I wish I had got tickets for people for the second show, but I didn't have the spare cash at the time.

I am in two minds for the scalping issue though.  On one hand I want their auctions to fail (extremly high bids with no follow through) and reporting them.

but

The other side of me wants more fans to attend, and if they are willing to pay more I don't want to take that option away from them!

I see there is quite a few up there already, might report one or two of the very high price ones.

I don't reckon, but I guess we'll see next time I get tickets to a popular show.

Apparently this is not possible. I was near the front of the queue at hamilton ticketmaster and they were waiting for it to go live on their system. It went live the same time as online did (i was on my laptop).

IMO its a stupid system being a first come first serve basis, pretty much anyone who happened to load the page exactly on 9am got them.
They should've allocated at least a small number to ticketmaster outlets - heaps of people who camped out overnight and were totally dedicated simply missed out.

Really really hating the promoters right now.

As I already had 4 tickets to the first show from my metclub presale I let someone else use the metclub presale code for the second show to get tickets, you know who you are Money mouth

I was refreshing the page before 9am, knew exactly which tickets and how many I was going for and was prepared to type the captcha superfast.

Like Asmodeus I got jack.

Not trying to sound like a dick, but you obviously weren't as fast as you thought you were, or as fast as the rest of the people who did get tickets.  Or are you implying some kind of conspiracy to deny you of tickets?  There were two or three chances to get tickets to these shows, so if you missed out it's your own fault.

I didn't try today, so I can't say for certain, but the fact is people did buy tickets today, just not you, so what's the problem?  Someone always has to miss out.  I do wonder how many tickets were available today and how many went in the presale, though.
