Considering NZ laws has its basis in British law, I wonder how true this is here...

That was fascinating.  I couldn't stop watching and stayed with it through all 48 minutes.  As an expat Brit I can fully believe everything he said about the court system and how the police operate.  A question I have always asked myself, what sort of person would want to join the police, army or clergy, or be a coach?  Of course they are not all going to be bad, but they will still be particular types of people, and some of them will see it as an opportunity to do bad things with impunity (for the most part).

Reminds me of the bad old days of US car manufacturing.

At best, this 1983 Chrysler Imperial engine made 140 HP, from a 5.2-liter V8 engine (318 cubic inches). 0-60 MPH was about 14 seconds.

Going back to 1971, the Plymouth Barracuda with the High-Performance version of the same engine made only 230 HP. (midrange block). 0-60 MPH of 6.5 seconds

The same displacement engine in the 2015 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 makes 526 HP at almost the same gas mileage. Compare 0-60 of the Mustang's 4 second to the 14 second from Chrysler Imperial.

The gas mileage from 1971 to 2015 has consistently been around 18 miles per gallon, or 7.6 KM per liter.

We've all wondered how the USA ended up with funny word spellings , freedom units and other things that make it 'special'.

Well, luckily, a film crew was there in the times of George Washington when these things were being decided .

They forgot to mention fractions. Where the rest of the world breaks down units with the super simple base ten divide, the USA insist on hanging on to fractions. The funniest thing I ever saw on a US woodworking channel was a calliper that displayed fractions! They have a device capable of resolving measurements down to a couple of thousands of their arcane inches, and they hog tie it with a system that only resolves down to 0.029". The only good thing about this crazy scheme is that it provides the rest of the world with the highly entertaining sport of trolling Americans on YouTube and various forums. They bite every time.

A topic worthy of it's own thread. I could only find two episodes but there's enough material for this series to go for a long time.

I've watched the American words video now (I had to go out).  The George Washington character totally sells both sketches with his deadpan delivery and I loved his reactions to the 'Man of Colour's' comments.  If you search YouTube with SNL George Washington, it brings up more similar sketches that have to be worth working though.

Toshiba once in leading in DRAM and Flash, just piled up too many mistakes.

The first laptops I saw used in numbers by sales in the field were Toshiba's ,
though later overtaken by Dells.

(I hope I have paired the quotes down correctly)

I bought a new pair of Kincrome digital callipers today.  My oldest callipers are Mitutoyo, and must be easily 30 years old, and are starting to look a bit sorry for themselves.  So after taking the severe piss out of Americans on YouTube for having callipers that include fractions as a display option, I find myself owning one. :-(

Tennessee law defines a deadly weapon as anything used or intended to cause death or serious bodily injury. The venomous snakes were could be considered deadly weapons, leading to Aggravated Robbery charges.

They could get 3-15 years for robbery, but if snakes are deemed deadly weapons, they could face the same 8-30 years as with a gun.
