"Temperatures are expected to reach the late teens and early twenties".

What exactly is wrong with "high" and "low"? Not to mention "teens"...

On the Wairarapa train, one station has a short platform. The announcement is "Passengers wishing to get off at Maymorn should do so from the north end of the train." Or south end in the opposite direction.

Eh? North end? South end? You think passengers are carrying a compass?! What is wrong with 'front' and 'rear' of the train for heaven's sake?

It isn't even accurate - the train doesn't travel north/south, it travels NNE and SSW.

There's a family photo in the crud at the bottom of Stuff pages. It's says "Can you help us name these people?"

Sure. Dave, Rebecca, Sally and Robert.

Or did you mean, perhaps, identify rather than name?

Two hour flight from Los Angeles to Chicago... yeah right. Quite annoying that people who write these articles even don't make the very basic attempt to get the facts right. That flight is close to 4.5 hours.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/travel/travel-troubles/116067132/air-nz-flight-from-los-angeles-to-london-diverted-due-to-medical-emergency

"However, about two hours into its journey the plane was forced to land at Chicago's O'Hare Airport after a passenger became ill."

Diverted after two hours in the air is a possible explanation.

"The only place in the New Zealand with a population decline"

Apparently NZ requires "the" now...

Unsure of its source, I was emailed it.  Also can't be sure of the editor's motivation but they did decide to publish it.  Regardless, it did make me cringe and snigger.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Must be missing something. Not quite sure why this is a dumb headline.

Yep - not a headline - just a typo.

Man jailed for assault and other charges. He survived a boat crash a few decades ago. There's nothing relevant about the former to the latter.

The stock photo of a multiboard is clearly an overseas one - either US or European.

Why is this sort of thing so hard?
