Crossover from another thread, but water filter cartridges designed in such a way that if you hook them up the obvious/logical way they'll be reversed, removing a lot of the benefits of the filter.

Edited to add: Here's an illustration of what I mean, the old filter I pulled out. If it's hooked up this way, it's the wrong way round.

I think the point that pushed me over the edge with modern news is when RNZ ran someone's opinion piece as breaking news last week.

The amount of vegetarian and vegan friendly things I have to eat as things are changed to suit a minority. Even Rowntrees fruit pastilles now proudly stated they are vegan friendly.

I’m not vegan. I don’t want to eat vegan things any more than they want to eat meat. Will we see “vegan sausages - now carnivore friendly!”? No. So why must normal people be made to eat vegetarian stuff?!

It actually amazes me that there’s so much gluten free stuff around. I guess either it is actually fairly popular, or there’s legislation that says it must be stocked. If it was up to the shop, it would be dropped faster than a Netflix show if it wasn’t making sales.

You don't 'have' to eat anything. You can choose to eat whatever you like. If you like something, what difference does it make what label is put on it? If you don't like it, why the hell are you eating it?

Because if there's one vegetarian or vegan anywhere, e.g. at a dinner, then typically the entire meal has to be made vegetarian or vegan (let's call it v/v to save typing) just for them, and so everyone has to eat v/v whether they want it or not.

While I applaud trying to accommodate different people's dietary habits, it would also be nice if the v/v could occasionally say "you know, everyone has had to eat boiled pap the last twenty times we've got together just because of me, why don't you guys make whatever you like the next time round and I'll bring something for myself". I have never experienced that, ever.

I'll extend that to people who imagine they're gluten-intolerant or something-else-intolerant, no medical diagnosis or proof of this but they just decide that from now on they're gluten-intolerant and so everyone in their vicinity has to eat godawful gluten-free stuff. Note that I'm not complaining about genuine medical conditions like coeliac disease which is pretty nasty, but someone who's decided, based on a Facebook post they read, that they're gluten-intolerant or something-else-intolerant and everyone else now needs to conform to this.

Yep, I've never seen that either. Not everyone likes brocolli or Brussel sprouts or pork or anything. So we serve or enjoy a range of foods, thats the idea

Bahaha I typed something similar but thought it too hash. The dinners I've been to that have included people with different dietary requirements have had all options available.

Also, if you haven't tried it I recommend* going vegetarian on one of the hello fresh or other delivered food options. It's interesting seeing what they in place of meat - for example something as simple as honey-soy roasted pumpkin pieces or swapping mince for jackfruit. I noticed that I felt more 'full' after such meals.

(*Or for those that are offended, "you must try" bahaha)
