Walking though my local Countdown produce section and finding on the day after saying they are phasing out single plastic bags in the produce section seeing packs of 4 apples on plastic trays wrapped in plastic .
Common sense is not as common as you think.

they are phasing out the rolls of bags you can use use to pack your own fruit/veggies. not items that come pre-wraped. that will be a different news story, but countdown should put pressure on their suppliers to be more environmentally friendly.
"And from 25 July, 19 more of the company's stores will join them in a pilot to remove the bags, with the intention of making the change permanent across the motu next year."
Companies pretending to be culturally aware but in my opinion are being culturally insulting by sporadically using Maori words in their communication.

This sort of thing doesn't advance the use of the Maori language, in fact if the Maori language was important to me I'd be insulted by the tokenism being portrayed by the use of my language in this manner.

Being from the Bay of Plenty, whenever I hear "the motu" I immediately think of the area around the Motu River up past Opotiki. That's what the phrase has meant for decades in this part of the country, and it's quite hard to readjust to this "modern" usage.

Agreed. I think Te Reo should be in schools from day one, but as proper structured language classes, just as if learning French or Chinese. This dropping random words into English sentences does little to improve actual competence in a language, and seems to me to be akin to tokenism, giving people the sense that they're actually learning a language, when that is not the case.
Learning vast lists of words is meaningless if you don't know how to glue them together and create a sentence. This situation reminds me of Japanese and Korean high-school students who learn words such as abrogate, egregious, and phlegmatic, but who still can't order lunch in English.

Sky so called Customer support, rang up to order another remote as wife somehow lost one?, try the online chat to get a message you are number 32 in the queue , bugger that i will call them and then told the wait is 1 hour 25 minutes with no call back service . When is this customer service , i guess i will try emailing them , god knows how long that will take to get back to me . Edit just got an email back saying 10 business days to get back to me. Dear God great way to run a business that relies on happy customers

I'm sorry, I thought you said you were talking about Sky?
(Also: Sky still exist?).
Geektastic: I think people should choose what languages they learn. If Te Reo is important to you, by all means learn it. If it isn’t, don’t.
Dropping random words in is just a recipe for confusion. Or perhaps a recipe pour manque de clarté.
What exactly did you say? 😎

MadEngineer: Does anyone subscribe to Apple Music but only have Android devices? Is Apple Music not the better offering? I have both devices and the service works brilliantly on both.
probably 90% of my playback is done on alexa devices so that makes it only spotify, amazon or deezer. And amazon have HD, not that it helps in the car with the shockingly bad bluetooth that the amazon echo auto has.
Wait, NZ doesn't have Apple Music on Echo devices? That's been a thing in Australia for at least two years now. Hmm... https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT209250
Apple Music for Alexa is only available in Austria, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Drivers not waiting for me to get off the road before taking off at pedestrian crossings. Also drivers the creep towards me as I am crossing. Buses are a regular annoyance with this. I realise that sometimes it takes a few seconds for me to negotiate the curb and I need to slow down as I approach the curb but I am not doing it to annoy folks.

I see people doing this too. I am not a wildly patient man, but I always think to myself, if that was my father, mother, son, daughter, would I want someone to wait for them, and that helps me be patient.
I also have stopped traffic to let kids cross, as it means I can ensure they get across safely. I'd love it for everyone to to do the same for my kids etc.
