In their accelerating descent to American dumbed-down reality hell, TV Three have seen fit to replace the afternoon news with a cheap import about coupon collecting! Way to go, stoopids!

Rikkitic:

They have children.

Usually they are grown up and they have grandchildren/great grand children from what I have seen of them making scenes about words they don't like.

What's annoying me today?

Quite a few things actually.

Going to redirect our post on the NZ Post website and getting a stern warning from Safari that someone might be impersonating NZ Post to steal my details all because NZ Post have not done something on their website that they should have done.

Misuse of 'myself' and 'yourself' in place of 'me' and 'you'.

I actually had an email today that began "Thank you for getting back to myself."

Just..NO.

Perhaps that person lacked coffee support. Hence why I, myself and me proof read everything to catch those gotchas :-)

The very funny Catherine Tate had a character that was a waitress in what was clearly meant to be TGI Fridays or a Harvester (neither of which are found here but they are chain restaurants). The catchphrase was "Any curly fries for yourself this evening?" 🤬

OK...MOST things are annoying me today.

But more specifically (let's just pull one out of the ether):

Apparently Hairy Maclary isn't inclusive enough and many other books should be altered to fit the new face of the world.

Really? A bunch of dogs (to be honest I have never thought of their gender, other than to give them pronouns) go on a rampage through the streets and terrorise Donaldon's Dairy and we're concerned about gender and identity diversity?

Write some books in the NOW, create your current books with a more "now" feel to them, but don't be surprised in the future when a sentient ape decides they're too human-focused and tries to cancel you as an author.

Quirky connection issues at work.. editing a working SSIS solution that pulls from a sharepoint list, sharepoint connection starts failing at runtime while in the office. run update job on server, same error.

Connect to an external network & work vpn - connection works fine. push job to server while connected to vpn, all okay on the server too

Now you put it that way, I see the books encourage dairy robberies too. I thought they were just sweet and innocent kids books but the whole time they're secretly building up to something similar to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Doberman_Gang

Thanks for pointing that out. Maybe I was too quick to assume the worst, but it was on the basis of past experience. It would have been helpful if they had a banner explaining it. Expecting to see the news and getting this American crap instead was a shock, but Covid and the flu are perfectly understandable.

A client of mine said that 60% of her workforce is either sick or isolated at home and tomorrow she expects more.

To be fair to TV3, Extreme Couponing is pretty newsworthy.

In all seriousness, Discovery Networks are very much a Reality TV network now. Where once they were purveyors of documentaries, they now document reality with such fare as Baggage Wars and Street Outlaws.

Add in the several shows about fishing, crabbing, gold mining and trucking and you have all of the ings covered.

Are those the same ones who think it make sense to go bush with no clothes and then blur out the no clothes?

Yes, but unfortunately I can't achieve the wild boar plague and the official shooting quotas by throwing cotton balls at the deer or petting them to death. ;-)
