What's annoying me today?

Quite a few things actually.

Yes, now that you mention it. I didn't even start with it in the first place.

Geektastic:

Plenty of states in the US have Open Carry permits.

Friend of mine was going on about how, if he lived in a US state where carry was legal, he'd be carrying a firearm. I reminded him that every nutcase and crank around him would also be carrying a firearm and his kids would be going to a school where other kids had firearms, and his enthusiasm waned rapidly.

That's one neat thing about living in NZ, a week or so back there a gun scare at the local mall which turned out to be kids with an airsoft gun who were given a talking to by the police. In NZ if you see some sort of firearm in this situation you can be 99.9% certain it's a toy. In the US if you see some sort of firearm in this situation you can be 99.9% certain there's going to be a mass shooting.

I visited an AT&T store to buy a sim card after arriving in the US.  Was talking to another customer and he told me he carries and that he'd killed two people -- one, a robbery in progress, and the other, a homeless person trying kill someone with a knife.   I thought it was an odd thing to tell a stranger, probably he was lying but I'll never know for sure.

Staffing shortages due to Covid and flu.

Also, how many lots of news do you actually need? Other than "the world will end in 45 minutes" is there something so pressing at 4:30 that it can't wait until someone else's news at 5:30, or the usual news at 6, or the apres-news at 7?

Yes, but unfortunately I can't achieve the wild boar plague and the official shooting quotas by throwing cotton balls at the deer or petting them to death. ;-)

Have you tried playing Motörhead at them?

Look on TM for an item.

Choose a local supplier with good feedback. (To avoid the Shipped from Auckland that takes a long time generally to Christchurch)

Get an Aramex Tracking Number.

3 Days later Still Nothing showing on Aramex site!

Email Supplier - who emailed a different Tracking Number (At almost Midnight last night), along with "We shipped your item from Auckland"! Aaaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhh!

Wonder when it will arrive?

I ordered from a Local Listed Company to:

A: Support Local

B: Avoid the Freight from Auckland Issues! Which are Well Known!

Local should have been here well before now!

I don't know if distance has a lot to do with the delays at this point - my wife ordered something from a local company within Whangarei the middle of last week, and despite being collected by the courier on Thursday, it still is nowhere to be seen. Normally, she'd pick it up, but that's not an option at the moment.

$12 ticket now cost the council over $100K when either could have just paid or waved and BS gone!

Uh, perhaps you should read the article. He complained about the ticket as he believed it was unjustified, and the customer service person raised a formal complaint about his actions to the council's chief executive. The lawsuit is absolutely nothing to do with the parking ticket, it's because he believes the inquiry that resulted in him being censured was flawed and he should not have been penalised over it.

Whoops! Stand corrected. Quite clearly I did not read the end of the article...
