Interislander.

Their "Customer Service Line" closes at 1700.

Do their ferries stop sailing at 1700? No they do not. Might customers travelling after 1700 have things they need to find out, discuss etc with Interislander after 1700? Yes they might....

The Google children deciding that yet another new type of Google-approved silly-walk is required before they'll allow apps to use Gmail, and making it a hard-fail instead of the previous soft-fail that could be disabled. Since a lot of devices that report things like outages use email and approximately none of them are interested in following Google's ever-changing silly-walk requirements, this makes it impossible to use Gmail as a clearing-house for email alerts (one of the few things that Gmail is actually useful for).

I never thought I'd say this, but thank God there's Microsoft Outlook.

Related to the many posts above about couriers and tracking.

I’ve got a delivery of Starlink gear inbound and the DHL tracking puts NZ couriers to shame. Six tracking events in a single day on one day! So far it’s taken 7 days to get to Auckland.

Many of our tracking systems here say “item picked up” then nothing until “delivered”.

I can’t help but think they confused tracking with registered delivery.

All of freightways services have been shit for the last couple weeks (receiving as a business). I had DHL ship from Japan to rural NZ in 2.5 days recently. Ok I got what I paid for but regardless, that's a bloody long way in such a short time frame.

Calling into a call centre, to get someone working from home who is obviously trying their best, but doesn't have the awareness to turn down the TV that is assumedly looking after the kids.

Quite hard to have a serious discussion about your mortgage with both a person and their TV. Quite off-putting and lacking in an element of professionalism.

Power cuts.

We he’ had one today from 1450 until 2030.

As a result I have error codes in the dishwasher. Error codes on one of the heat pumps. A blown fuse in one of the hi fi components.

Can I pass on the cost of getting those things fixed to the muppets whose lack of investment caused them? No. So yet more bills for me on top of the five hours with no power. 🤬

Now some Ottoman citizen in the wider neighbourhood thinks that his full-on bazaar music of belly-dancing provenance would be a delight for all ears. I would have no small desire to counter with Richard Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries or Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture with cannon thunder - but then I would be no better than him. ;-)

One-upmanship is definitely better than being annoyed.

GO FOR IT! Ride of the Valkyries would be epic.

No problems here. Have you tried temporarily disabling any add-ons to see if the problem persists?

Just happened again with all addons disabled :(

I think either will be a good choice. Just make sure you have speakers up for the task. If you're going to do it, do it properly

We have neighbours from the sub continent who have a car alarm that regularly goes off in the middle of the night. I forsee an early morning lawn mowing event. My other evil option is to throw some ice cubes onto their roof. The evidence quickly disappears. 😇

Surely Gustav Brunner's Jupiter is the correct Anglo-assertive piece of music for such an occasion?

If you are just looking for payback, forget about cultural one-upmanship and just play The Bird is the Word on a loop at max pain volume.
