trig42: It will also be a good time now to buy shares in those companies that have been sold down as Cunliffe has said Labour 'probably will' buy back the assets. IMO they 'probably will' also buy them back at some stupid price - making people a nice profit along the way. But it will keep their voters happy (and their likely coalition partners). Why??

Yes its kind of ironic isn't it that Labour and Greens have cost the tax payer so much in these sales and look like the cat that got the cream, sad really.

If they buy back like they did the Lemon NZ Rail then it will cost the tax payer a lot more and then all the left supporters can have a smug look on their face and say the extra cost to the rate payer was Nationals fault as that is what the society we live in is all about, abducting responsibility.

The party that enacted the right to call for a citizens initiated referendum was the National Party. Then using the legislative right to do so in excess of 300,000 New Zealanders called for the referendum in which in excess of 1,000,000 voted in said referendum. I do not how it is deduced that the "blame" for using a legitimate electoral process is vested in the Labour and Green parties.

How do you claim that it was a Citizens Initiated Referendum when thats what it was in name only?!! It was initiated by the Green Party (openly admitted) and supported by party funding (openly admitted) which is money from tax payers?!!!

I think you are using an incorrect definition of citizens' initiated referendum.  This referendum was initiated by/with the support of the citizens, as opposed to being initiated by the in-power government / act of parliament.  That those who dreamed it up or were the driving force behind getting it the aforementioned support are politicians has absolutely nothing to do with it.  Besides - politicians are citizens too.

how you deduced all that from what I posted is a mystery to me. I never  mentioned anything about the system being labours fault.

Your post and the other post quoted eluded that it was labour and Green party, is was pointing out that many hands worked to make a referendum.

I support the democratic process, my opinion on the result will remain with me.

My references to the Labour and Greens party were mostly off topic and referred to them using the referendum for their own political gain what with the election coming up. I also said they were quite happy with their little campaign that has meant taxpayers get less for what has been sold knowing full well it won't stop the sales.

I actually couldn't care less who brought in the CIR nor who started this particular one as it has no bearing on anything, I did say that until they should be made binding otherwise its a waste of money, which it is for nothing more than political gain.
