... The boarding pass turned out to be for a JetStar flight departing a different gate, at a different time yell

A later one I hope for their sake.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

I just randomly remembered that when I was a kid, a friend lived in a house that looked a bit like a lighthouse. I decided to check on Street View to see how "lighthousey" it actually is. Lo and behold, it now actually has "The Lighthouse" written on it!

I went out on a "Fabulous 4WD Family Fun Day Out" yesterday with my better half and three children. A great day out spent driving over some fantastic stations in the South Waiarapa as a fundraiser for a local trust.

Unfortunately, the weather turned wet towards the middle of the afternoon, and those people in their SUV's with road tyres suddenly found the going less than trafficable. Also unfortunate, as due to the narrow clay track we were on at the time, it didn't matter if you were in a capable 4wd with good tyres, as there was no getting forward past, nor turning round to go back!

The decision was made to leave the vehicles where they were, and walk out to the road. Good humans shone through, and helped others, and eventually other good humans arrived in vehicles from Martinbourgh to pick up those walking. A wonderful family had room for three, so the children went with them back to Martinbourgh, while wife and I continued to walk. About an hour later, we were picked up by an awesome bloke who works for Vodafone in Wellington, who took us back to our place. (the grandmother had already popped out to get the children, who had been fed and watered while they waited!)

I'll most likely go get my vehicle back once things dry out a little, and it's not a war-stopper that we don't have it right now. I know people from wellington drove to Waikanae to drop others home who had also left their vehicle behind too.

In general, most people are pretty dam good, and that gives me reason to smile.

It may not seem much but to me it's big and makes a huge smile when after a very long time to walk where I wanted to walk since my teens. Not only walk but walk unaided. The sense if achievement is profound. Today I pay the price but yesterday was worth the cost.

I get that. After my heart surgery, I was weak as a kitten. There was a bench on the sea front about 150m from where we were living and it took me 2 weeks to be able to walk far enough to reach it and sit down.

The look my daughter gives me hoping that she will get away with something I just frowned at her for doing. It's the very definition of cheesy and cheeky.

The look my son gave me when I did a fart today, and he did a much bigger one in response.

The glee I felt when a radio announcement mentioned that Yummy Brand Sweet Tango Apples were back and the crispness of biting into one and finding out it wasn't just a one-off thing last year.
