1024kb: NZ's own Darcy Clay did Jolene like nobody else - a chaotic rendition that's so far from Dolly's original that it's barely even a cover. Recorded in his own bedroom, a reminder of a brilliant musical genius whose talent blazed like a comet for far too short a time.


I gave this album on vinyl to the Mrs for Mother's Day. Darcy Clay was a unique NZ talent.

I really enjoyed that. The only thing I would critique there is the mix - I felt like the backing vocalist overshadowed the lead when he started singing.

They are all fantastic but do NOT miss the Bogdan Ioan cover. That literally brought the hairs up over my body almost instantly. 

 

Vincent Vinel was also excellent as was Jørgen Dahl Moe.
