MadEngineer: Park in a car park miles away from any others so that I can avoid anyone coming near me for all the obvious reasons and another car pulls up right next to me. Seriously? The whole park is empty and you have to park there?
Further, she opens her car door to get her kid out and of course it’s the door closest to mine. Kid jumps out and strait away has to run their sticky fingers along the length of my car Fffffffffff

Yup - It happens every time for me!

Maybe they think the cars can have a chat while everyone is away? 🤣

Maybe you look so trusting that they think you're already taking care of their car? ;-)

That's how I feel in public, when I stand at a fair or fest with my back to the last corner to avoid uncomfortable body contact in the crowd, I can be sure that it won't take long, even though I'm 1.9m tall and actually impossible to miss - even with a bright orange expedition jacket with reflectors. Annoying.

I get annoyed at the SJW's who comment on articles about the ramraid kids being caught - blah blah blah, we must do better by them, it's such a shame, they aren't to blame etc.

Grrrrr.....they COMMITTED CRIMES. THEY ARE CRIMINALS. It's absolutely their fault. They know right from wrong. They're not from an alien civilisation with different societal norms.

Sure - look at their upbringings and the way that they were shaped into the vile humans they are now, but don't say they didn't know what they were doing is wrong.

Also - someone posted on Reddit that an Auckland supermarket often gets robbed in broad daylight - people filling trolley-loads of meat and other expensive goods and simply walking out - sometimes challenged, but most often not (under policy of "it's just stock - don't risk your wellbeing").

Comments on this post ranged from "Beat them" to "Great - the supermarkets have ripped us off for years, now we're getting back at them. Let's support these go-getters".

Local New World just gets worse and worse. Happily used to buy 1kg mice packs for the freezer but they don't do those any more. Used to buy 1kg chicken breast packs for the freezer, don't do those any more. They might still make a decent family mince pie, but maybe half of what they used too, so I actually spot them about once every two months.

My inexpert opinion on this is that it is a direct result of 'authorities' and ultimately taxpayers, trying to do things on the cheap. The young people doing that kind of thing seem to have no values other than whatever you can get away with is good. This comes from generations of poor parenting and lack of community values. You can blame what you like for that. It is the result of a complex mix of long-term failed policies.

The knee-jerk political response, also on the cheap, is to screech for draconian increased penalties: hang 'em high. This is futile because the penalties are never enforced. No-one ever gets the maximum sentence, or anything even close. That would cost money.

Instead of cheap politicking about greater penalties, or longer sentences, or bringing back the guillotine, or whatever, an actual solution would be spending tons and tons of money to implement and enforce provisions and penalties already in the system. Bring back community policing, with cops on every corner. Invest in proper housing and facilities and services to rebuild communities like they used to be. Squash gangs once and for all. Glue a social worker to every delinquent to ensure they can't go off the rails. Once things are running smoothly again, the investment to keep them that way needn't be so high, but it will take a boatload to get things back on track. Of course that will never happen.

Interesting, as I think the racist behaviour shown by people living in some other states is more dangerous to life than a policy to not confront shoplifters.

Obligatory 'screw daylight savings' post. I sure do love trying to battle my own and a three year old's body clock.

One of the few decent things that was good about living close to the equator at one point in life, DLS just didn't happen.

We should just stay on it.

Don't think I'd cope with an 8:30am sunrise. We are already on 30 mins permanent daylight saving anyway since WWII. 🌞

Stupid apple ios and deleting photo attachments from my 4GB of Messages   -- IOS provides a fairly OK way to do this, but , it doesn't work very well.

I've deleted some photos up to 5 times but they keep coming back  ... and, the messages app freezes and crashes when trying to delete 100 photo attachments at a time.

I even turned off icloud in case that was bringing them back.

While we're complaining about attachments, the utterly braindamaged way that Outlook for the Web or whatever it's called (forced to use, don't have a choice) includes every single image in an email as an attachment in replies, forcing you to manually delete up to a dozen images each time you reply to someone whose work email includes logos and other junk.

Oh, and the fact that you have less than half the total screen space available to display an email because of the endless toolbars and tooltips and icons and menus and whatnot, mostly duplicating or triplicating other toolbars and icons, that it displays even with everything possible turned off.

In fact just Outlook for the Web in general. To think that someone actually did this on purpose...

On that note, why do so many businesses insist on replicating the email metadata (name, email address) in the signature?

Receiving yet another email that begins "Thankyou for choosing to receive your statement in electronic form...". Which should say "Nyah-nyah for being forced to see your statement online-only after going through a fifteen-stage sign-in process to retrieve it, after which you have to print it yourself so we can save a few cents at our end to add to our already obscene profits".
