If you think the toothbrushes are bad, look at the pricing of replacement ends for them. Absurd.

I'm sure you know about this one but others may not: Get them from Ali, you can buy a pack of 20, including shipping, for less than the cost of a single head bought in NZ. OK, they don't last as long as the Braun ones, but at that price who cares.

I have had too many brissles come out of the clone ones I got the first time so am begrudgingly buying the real ones. Good pack sizes at costco but I am stocked well enough at the moment on them.

Well, the good news is that it was actually dispatched today. The bad news is that it was sent via PBT. There should be a legal requirement to warn someone if you're going to do that.

So, it's been two days since the package was given to PBT and in that time they've managed to do precisely nothing with it.

This, which I thought would be "replace the shower door" - but turns out the spontaneous explosion has punched holes in the vinyl and created multiple chips in the base of the shower - so actually not so small. Looking like the entire shower has to come out. On the bright side, AMI have been great to deal with, just time consuming because there's four trades to deal with.

We had this happen to us, about 3 minutes after our kids got out of the shower. There was glass everywhere and some of it was lodged in the door and walls. I shudder to think what would have happened if the kids had an extra long shower, the injuries could have been horrific.

After our bathroom was cleaned twice professionally, someone suggested getting someone with a (I want to say UV) special light in, and they found another 100 pieces of glass still in the room!

Yeah one of our sons is back home with us for a few weeks between flats and he was about 15 minutes away from using it to shower. He definitely would have been injured. Shower & door have been in place for 7-8 years, so no idea what set it off.

Scaremongering from supposedly-respectable publications. In an article about computer security there's a statement to the effect of "in this recently-published document [link included], the OS vendor says [insert quote here]". Except that quote doesn't actually appear in the linked document.

So Windows tells me Update 22H2 or 2H22 or something is available and I should install it. Like every single update since the initial OS release I know it'll contain absolutely nothing I want, need, or care about, but also that if I delay installing for too long other updates will start causing problems. So I click on "What's in this update", and get taken to a web page that informs me that it contains:

"a scoped set of improvements in the areas of productivity and management"

That's it, not even the traditional "stability and functionality enhancements", just a long-winded synonym for "sweet f---all". Could come in handy in the future though, some suggested uses:

"Today at work all I managed to do was a scoped set of improvements in the areas of productivity and management".

"Spent all day in the garden in the stinking heat and managed to do a scoped set of improvements in the areas of productivity and management".

"I've been watching you for the last hour and you've done an absolutely scoped set of improvements in the areas of productivity and management".

Has happened to us in two different ways. One was an installed shower door that did the spontaneous combustion thing. The other was a door in the process of being installed. The builder was struggling with its weight and when he rested it unevenly on one corner it just popped into glass confetti.

What is that thing? Does it just auto-reply to every new thread to say "here we go"?

Looks like it is triggered by certain phrases. For instance if I mention Trump and MAGA...

[edit] nope, that didn't work...

I think there are some further rules around the size of the thread etc. I believe if you mention Trade Me in the first post then you get the "here we go", but not once there are a number of posts in there.

This reminds me of when I was a hairdresser in the 80's and 90's and we used Arcoroc cups/mugs for tea/coffee for our customers.

Every now and again you'd hear an explosion in the staff room and upon investigation, you'd find shattered brown glass everywhere, from where a cup had spontaneously exploded - for no apparent reason.

I think it’s manually inserted by a Mod - but it has long outlived its amusement value.

Manual insertion is not all it’s cracked up to be - and is not to be confused with digital insertion. 😀
