Rikkitic:

I have learned to live with Thunderbird and it is not too bad. If you take the trouble, you can make it look and work almost like Windows Live Mail or Outlook Express. I just wish there was a way to turn off the endless pointless updates.

Anyone have any experience with eM Client? Given its customisability and looking pretty close to what a generic mail client should look like, that might be the best bet for dropping onto friends-and-family machines.

That ARAMEX cannot be honest in their "Expected Delivery" date, even now! Never has it been correct for me!

Currently showing Today for the Expected Delivery for a parcel for me! :

- The parcel hasn't even made it to Christchurch to be "sorted" yet!

- Our "normal" Aramex Delivery is BEFORE 7am!

Never has a parcel arrived before the expected date shown,

and only occasionally on the date shown!

Why give a person "false hope"?

It only highlights how bad they are!

If I now assume it will be here tomorrow and plan accordingly, it will probably (On past experience) arrive Monday!

I'm still waiting for a parcel to be picked up to be shipped to ChCh by Aramex. It's now 3 days and despite calls and emails, I still don't know if/when the driver will come to collect the parcel.

At least the buyer is being reasonable about it. I guess that's because they insisted on using Trademe for the courier service, so it's largely their fault for the choice of Aramex (a company I hate with a passion).

On the topic of couriers and deliveries, what about when the sender can't sort out its systems? I just received a "your order has just shipped" email... four hours after the package had already arrived.

The fact that on Trademe if you're selling a small number of tchotchkes and you're down to the last one from an original "x available", you can't make it an auction just to get rid of the last one that's sitting around, it's locked into being a fixed-price sale unless you withdraw it and start an entirely new listing as an auction.

The number of tradies who are signing me up to their mailing lists simply because I've used their contact form.

I called a plumber two weeks ago after a quick google search on my phone. Now I've received their monthly newsletter because I apparently "opted in on our website" which I've never even visited.

My delivery sat for 28 hours in Auckland between clearing customs and departing that facility..!

Apple now show delivery as “delayed”.

I bought a reasonably expensive product from amazon... took an inordinate amount of time sitting at the airport , then status changed to damaged.

I wanted to know the damage, after a while they admitted the package was opened and the contents gone... ie, it was more likely stolen!

Trademe's response to my complaint about Aramex and the fact that I booked it through them and didn't have any other choice of courier.

Trademe: Thanks for letting us know about your concerns with Aramex. I know how frustrating it is when courier bookings don't go to plan so it's a shame to hear you've had issues with them. We will continue to have Aramex as an option when booking a courier via Trade Me - they are a national company, and we partnered with them and believe in the service they can provide. It's not often we have issues, but when we do, it can often be traced down to a local issue, and even a specific driver on that day. Thousands of bookings go through them a day, most without a hitch, but I’m truly sorry you haven’t had a good experience with them. Of course, you're welcome to use NZ Post instead or another courier directly. Sometimes you may only be given one courier as an option - this could be due to the buyer's address, or one of the couriers being fully booked or unavailable at the time of booking. If this happens, often trying again another time does the trick.

I wonder how it is that online sites manage to consistently partner with some of the worst freight companies in the business: eBay with Pitney Bowes instead of DHL, TradeMe with Aramex instead of anyone who isn't Aramex, and Aliexpress still allowing Yanwen when, at least for NZ, it must lead to 100% disputes filed due to non-delivery.

I also wonder this.

The follow up message from Trademe basically told me I should source my own courier, as they have zero issues with Aramex. Then they ended the chat

That probably isn't the senders fault.

It will be the courier not scanning it on pickup.

Our system at work (NZ Post) sends automatic emails on ticket printing, pickup and delivery. The Pickup and delivery ones rely on the courier driver scanning it. The emails are not sent from our system, they are sent from NZ Post.

For what it's worth, the tracking page shows a pickup yesterday.

I'll give you one guess.

Yes, I think you're close .........
