The Mandalorian - Disney+ NZ

I am about halfway through the second episode and it feels like a sidenote from a Star Wars movie - in so much that I keep expecting the famous characters to turn up (and who knows? maybe some will).

It's well made, lavishly constructed and undeniably for the Star Wars fan.

9/10 so far.

Haven't they already..... ??

We've had Jawas, the Bounty hunting robot from Empire strikes back, and a youngling from Yoda's species.

It lavishly shot, and I certainly hope Pedro Pascal isn't being paid by the word.... but I have a nasty feeling the episodes are going to end up "on rails" as it becomes clear that the Mandalorian doesn't want to surrender the youngling to the evil client.... (It is Disney after all)

Point taken...I should've been more clear...I think I was aiming for characters with names and their own sturies in the folklore of the SW Universe...Like Han, Luke, Boba Fett, etc...

The first episode of The Mandalorian - as above. Beautifuly done. Too early to know if the story will hold but high hope.

The Crown Season 3 NF 8/10

I'm not normally into this sort of thing (the missus likes them so I get to see them) but this was outstanding. The first 2 series, like Victoria, were well made but pretty lightweight.

This is anything but, dealing with events like the Aberfan disaster and the miners strike. And I don't know how much of it is fiction but it certainly provides a different insight into the Royal family. Olivia Coleman was really very, very good as were many supporting roles.

I like Jeff Goldblum, but I was disappointed by this series so far. I was hoping it was more science based. He seemed a little too sleazy toward the women.

Here’s the Queen at Aberfan in 1964 - and Olivia Coleman:

The Crown is a good series but The Queen is always showing a grumpy face - even when it should be sad - vide pictures above.

I'm currently watching Watchmen on Neon/Sky Go.

I'm a little confused at times as it's been a really long time since I saw the movie and they reference things that are clearly for the graphic novel crowd, but go over my head.

It's good, but not great...that may be different for someone who is intimately familiar with the Watchmen graphic Novels but for me it's...slightly better than OK.

6/10

The end of the movie was altered quite substantially from the graphic novel. As a result much of the series would make more sense to someone who hasn't seen the movie or read the graphic novel than it would to someone who as only seen the movie.

I've read the graphic novel and am quite enjoying the series so far. My main criticism is that the main character is also by far the least interesting one.

It will be interesting to see how they deal with the Princess Di saga in the next series. I never knew that Anne had a fling with Camilla's first husband before they married. Is that actually true?

Excellent so far, Star Wars in classic mode, back to the original feel.

We are enjoying S3 of The Crown and would say it’s very good but not necessarily excellent or outstanding. IMO the same applies to Olivia Coleman. She seems to have a very limited range of emotions - but to be fair that could be entirely intentional and a correct depiction of the Queen.

The guy who is playing Prince Charles I think has totally nailed it - particularly the voice.

The Crown S3 E5 The Coup was superb.  Charles Dance as Lord Mountbatten was excellent. 9/10 for this episode.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

The only character in the Crown I don't find authentic is Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret. Too over the top for my liking.
