Behodar:

A bit like when you go into a shop and can't find an X. "Do you have an X?" you ask. "Why do you want it?" comes the response. They get all indignant when you reply "I want to buy it"!

That response actually makes sense, if it's a slightly oddball item or something that people frequently get wrong ("Do you have a huge screwdriver? I need it to hammer in a nail") they can suggest an alternative or better option. That's exactly why you go to Mitre 10 and ask the older retired-builder types for something rather than the just-out-of-school kids, the kids will tell you they don't have that, the experienced guys will ask what you're trying to do and a lot of the time come up with a much better and/or cheaper approach than your one.

So it arrived. No damage.

Great except that I ordered more when they said it was going back and I was going to get refunded. The redbull is fine because I will drink it anyway and I'm not short on cash but I dont really have use for the extra USB hubs.

I've seen that before. Typically it's because the ("self-employed") courier either can't or doesn't want to deliver your package, often because they want to go home. They mark the package damaged (because then they don't get pinged for not delivering) and then deliver it later.

Reminds me of my wife.

Me: "Would you like a drink?"

Wife: "Yes please."

Me: "What would you like?"

Wife: "What are you having?"

Me: "What does that have to do with my question?"

Barista's hands that put marshmallows in a Mocha without asking first?

When I’m offered a hot drink and asked what I’d like I usually respond “whatever’s going/whatever you’re having”. I enjoy coffee and tea equally. Is that in a similar vein as the above and would that be an annoy for the above?

Same here, my response to "I'm making tea, what would you like?" is often "what are you having? Sounds good, I'll have one too". I'm not picky, usually happy to have what everyone else is having, and it saves a long back-and-forth with the host to try and get some agreement on what I'd like vs. what they have available.

Surprise her with some motorcycle parts or a De Walt toolbox.

It would only annoy me if you then decided that what I gave you wasn't what you like/wanted - i.e. no sugar or too milky.

Being informed by the building company/insurers that our house will be 100% ready to reoccupy by the end of Friday this week.

Getting a text from the painter on Friday morning saying he's having trouble getting paint and that he'll need to paint tomorrow.

Trying to get hold of the building co to co-ordinate the delay of all the other trades to ensure that the painter isn't painting while plumbers, electricians and curtain specialists are there.

I was under the impression that they were supposed to be project managing this rebuild, not me.

Now we've had to add at least one more night to our temp accommodation, which will likely end up stretching out well beyond that.

Furniture is booked to be brought back from storage to be put back in the house on Monday. No idea if I will have to rebook that for a later date.

All very stressful.

So far - 4 days over time. I wonder how many it'll end up being.

That my Apple Watch Ultra doesn’t have something like the jet lag minoring app that the new Garmin MARQ watches have.
