Trying to get a Covid Booster, booked online, went, they don't do covid vaccines in the weekend! I ask why the website accepts appointment, blank stare. Trying calling a couple of others, no answer, drive there, same deal no covid jabs in weekends. Total 5 places either closed when they say supposed to be open or not doing vaccines.

Finally found a place the following day, get a rookie and the jab is one of the most painful I've ever experienced (I think he went too high), and now not only my arm, but my entire shoulder, shoulder blade etc are all aching, and I have an unpleasant headache.

That seems like pretty poor form to me. It's like the health authorities have given up on Covid.

Being informed by the building company/insurers that our house will be 100% ready to reoccupy by the end of Friday this week.

Getting a text from the painter on Friday morning saying he's having trouble getting paint and that he'll need to paint tomorrow.

Trying to get hold of the building co to co-ordinate the delay of all the other trades to ensure that the painter isn't painting while plumbers, electricians and curtain specialists are there.

I was under the impression that they were supposed to be project managing this rebuild, not me.

Now we've had to add at least one more night to our temp accommodation, which will likely end up stretching out well beyond that.

Furniture is booked to be brought back from storage to be put back in the house on Monday. No idea if I will have to rebook that for a later date.

All very stressful.

So far - 4 days over time. I wonder how many it'll end up being.

Got into the house Sunday.

Spent 6 hours cleaning.

Still a shambles, but at least it's "habitable" and it's now clean.

Not impressed at all.

By the time it's complete early next year, it will have been a year since the flood that caused the damage.

I just received the first "remember that we exist" Christmas-themed marketing text message of the year. I wonder how many more I'll get...

And another thing... I just got an email from Mighty Ape saying that my "Primate" subscription has expired. In previous years they included a summary of how many orders you'd placed and how much you'd saved on delivery fees. This year it's just "it's expired; do you want to renew?"

It's also had a 25% price hike this year...

Putting the TV back.

Actually - putting the TV, Sky Box, Wifi dongle for sky box, splitter for extending sky to the bedroom, Bluray player, Apple TV, Soundbar, Subwoofer and whatever that small box is back.

I have no idea which cable goes where, why or how.

It's like a pit full of vipers!!

Captain Hindsight would tell you that you should have labelled everything when you took it out.

Captain Hindisght can go do one!

Yes...my first thought was "I think I said I'd label those last time".

In the end by trial and error, I got everything working. For now.

Captain Hindsight would have had me take "before" photos of my renovations too! It's nice to be able to show people what it looks like now, but it would be even better if they could see the mess it was before...

Our kitchen Reno started just before covid. I had stripped EVERYTHING out, then lockdown was announced.

Managed to get a plumber in to hook up the sink I had sitting on some meltica  sheet that was put on top of boxes, and being a sparky I wired did the same with the new cook top we had bought there week before.

We had enough to survive....

Yup - I have photos of all the walls before they were relined to see where any cables, studs / dwangs, pipes etc are too.

The way companies can debit your card in milli-seconds but it takes them up to 2 weeks to 'process' a refund.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

Vipers. Best description I’ve heard! Took me an afternoon of labels and cable ties but it’s so satisfying to no longer have to rummage bent double in the dark pit.

The situation could be improved with standardised colours for the plugs (remember when mice always had green plugs and keyboards always had purple?) but it's trickier when many of the plugs are just HDMI outputs. You'd need some sort of system like "red is for a satellite receiver, blue is for a game console, green is for speakers" but good luck getting the industry to agree on all that!

Ah, the good old days, when peripherals all had wires.
