neb: Firing up the BNZ app to hunt down a missing payment and being told it's been deactivated because we felt like it and I'll have to go through the whole signup and activation process again.

And now because it's a brand-new app install that I've apparently never used before despite using it for several years, its functionality has been restricted for security reasons.

Edited to add: Just checked the app store and it was updated yesterday so presumably they broke something in the update. Would have been nice if they told you that due to an update you may need to re-register rather than just "Your account has been deactivated" or whatever the message was.

A lot of apps seem to throw you out periodically. It’s very tedious.

I'm finding the Apple offloading of apps tedious.

When I update my iPhone, nearly all of my apps are offloaded. It's annoying. I have plenty of capacity on my device and I don't want to have to reload an app every time I want to use it after an update of iOS.

Settings/General/iPhone Storage. You can disable automatic offloading in there.

The stupidity of DRM (copy protection).

Open an ebook in Apple iBooks, select text, copy, paste to TextEdit. Nope, can't do that!

Open the same ebook in the same Apple iBooks, take a screenshot of the window, open that in Apple Preview, select all, copy, paste to TextEdit. Yep, that's perfectly fine.

Does anyone know how people are managing to save pdf files from presumably their 365 account as “… .prod.outlook.com” files? It’s annoying 🤣

The car won’t start and of course it’s Friday night at 4.45pm. Family arriving airport Monday. Good luck getting it fixed between now and then to collect them.

Wondering if locusts swarm in wet weather.

Some cars have a special sensor to demonstrate their power at such moments. 😉

A NASA photo gets shared on social media. 99.9% of the comments are from the church of antivax proclaiming how it’s fake.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, the ASB app notified me I could now manage registered devices from the app. Turns out my old phone which was last used 8 years ago is still registered! I would have expected them to auto-expire devices which are unused for a couple of years.

Ordered our annual feed of KFC online tonight  ... what a mickey mouse operation.

Firstly, the store was only doing drive through when we turned up to get our meal.

Took 40 minutes to get to the cashier.  And, they've run out of chicken.

Firstly, they should not be taking online orders when they are only operating drive through.

Secondly, KFC running out of chicken?

Never again!

Some branches like Estuary Duck (former Orewa) or Killarney Rat (Takapuna) never had any to begin with.

TradeMe... a button has appeared on my Watch List allowing me to create groups in my Watch List, I guess the same as AliExpress's Wish Lists. Cool, nice feature. Click on the "+" create group button. What? A radio button question about *why* I want to set up a group. OK, whatever. Click, and I'm back to my Watch List. No group created. ??? Several more iterations on the assumption that I've missed something, but nah.

Either TM has hidden the solution so completely that a minute search of the UI can't find it, or it's not there at all.

That is all you need to put TBH, but as far as wishlists go, aliexpress has totally lost the plot with them to the point I am not bothering to even look at them to top up orders when I have some left over toy budget for the week.

I got a new TV today with HDR. I connected the PS5, went into settings and tried to turn HDR on, only to get a "Your TV doesn't support HDR" message. Cue me spending the next ten minutes poking around in the TV settings, trying to figure out how to enable HDR. No luck.

Eventually I noticed a "device info" submenu on the PS5 itself, where it tells me that HDR is unavailable because I have a PSVR connected. Why couldn't the original error say that?!
