The number of companies with landline numbers who don't answer their phones or return their messages.

The number of companies with email addresses who don't answer their emails or return their messages.

The number of companies with chatbots who don't answer their chats and disconnect you unresolved.

The list goes on. Phone is probably my least preferred way to deal with companies because its so hard to keep records of but if they have a voicemail on it, I consider that a failed attempt.

My big issue is restaurants. How do you let someone know you are running late so they don't give your table to someone else.

If you aren't going to deal with a communication method, remove it as an option.

The number of companies who don’t organise holiday cover when staff are away.

“I’m sorry. Fred is away for three weeks.”

“Could I speak to whoever is responsible for his work whilst he is away?”

“Nobody is. You’ll have to wait until he gets back. Sorry about that.”

That reminds me of when I moved to Europe and had my first dealings with the French during their summer holiday period.

First email to Fred **

"I'm out of the office, please contact John"

Many years ago I sent an email to a company in Australia. For some reason I had receipt notification turned on.

I received seven or so notifications of the email going from one person to another, until the second to last forwarded it to someone with their own comments.

The last person replied to me with the comments. Which were not nice (as in "Can someone reply to this guy?")

The fact that Businesses do NOT have their street numbers CLEARLY marked on the buildings.

Especially the ones where there are multiple "tenants" and the only thing they have is a small plaque for each one.

If I am looking at doing business with you, make it easy for me, otherwise I WILL GO ELSEWHERE AND SPEND MY MONEY.

Covering for a colleague and having to deal with small business owners and their staff.

I'm used to Large Corporate/Institutional entities, where things are urgent but it's not their money at stake, so everyone is fairly reasonable.

SME's have their own money tied up in everything they do, so everything is urgent, everything matters more than life itself and the aforementioned business owners are quite often the least organised people on planet Earth.

Oh - and the returns on the small business stuff probably don't cover what I cost my employer - unlike the large businesses, where we are talking hundreds of thousands of dollars in return for my efforts.

Yes I know many of you are small business owners and probably find this quite offensive.

Violent words on the front page of main stream media websites. Woman raped, man knifed, fighting in the streets, kids beaten, other kids hungry, meth madness, etc. etc. Oh for some harmless innocent dirty talk instead!

Drove in to Dunedin yesterday. Wet drizzle conditions (today just as bad if not worse!). Bit of traffic backed up behind your typical slow bus that is on holiday so everyone else has to sit at 80 km/h!

That kinda made me smile.

But then I cringed when a d**khead decides to pass bus, stock truck and trailer plus two cars, semi blind corner, drizzle spray getting chucked up, reduced visibility and passing lane only 1km away. Why bother!

Because he's (Assuming it was a him) fed up with living and is in a hurry to die?
