Games do have documents, the saved games. It'd be inappropriate to store them in Application Support, and by putting them in Documents they can be iCloud synced. The problem is really that macOS offers no way for an application to add text to the prompt to say why it wants that access.

Being an online game, it doesn't have save files. Screenshots should go on the desktop, as that's my configured screenshot location (which also happens to be the default). I'm firmly of the belief that the Documents folder "belongs" to the user. By all means, in a game with save files, it can be the default location when I save (or, for a game that autosaves, when I create the character). That does not give it carte blanche to start creating subfolders and putting its own files in there.

However, this all ended up being moot as the game (FF14) is a crashtastic mess and I deleted it.

Sorry, poor wording on my part there. I'm actually not sure what my thought process was at the time :)

Is that a euphemism for another similar term?

A small thing that annoys me is holidays. I realise they are important for people with families and jobs, and I don’t begrudge them for anyone who values them, but from a purely selfish personal view, I could easily do without. They disrupt my comfortable routine and confront me with things I particularly loathe, like Santa Claus films and the Royal Variety Show. I would much prefer there were no holidays at all, but for those who do care about them I can only say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

You'd have to admit Bill Bailey was worth watching surely 😀  Although I went to bed after that...

Surely neither of those things are obligatory?!

They fill space that might otherwise be usefully occupied, but I was just using them as examples. I mainly just watch news but that also gets pushed aside for sentimental holiday mush.

Well, I think holidays are the only way to synchronise the most diverse destinies at least once or twice a year. Since they are "enforced" days off, there is at least the possibility to meet and see each other (with exceptions who are on duty for us on holidays). Of course, it depends on what you make of it and quite a few people can't think of anything better than settling old scores and having far too high expectations on such days. Even if I were living alone on an island, out of self-respect I would try to make something festive and special out of it according to the prevailing circumstances, be it dressing festively, even cooking myself elaborately. In my opinion, people need milestones for their memories, otherwise everything in life is the same.

If Xmas not your thing then volunteer to work them. If your work is closed anyway, volunteer your time to others so they can have the time off.

Watched it with Mother Neb while waiting for the fireworks,,, who was it that chose such a terrible set of musical numbers? All of them seemed utterly forgettable, from Rod Stewart, who's given us some of the catchiest, sing-along tunes around, mumbling his way through whatever it was he was mumbling about (at least the backing singers were fairly ornamental) through to the woman on the steps doing some tuneless number about something or other (the word 'love' came up once or twice), in the end I just tuned out when anyone was singing.

Thank you Rikkitic, likewise.

Now, I'm not sure about this royal variety show of which you speak but I suspect you're actually annoyed at FTA TV where someone else decides what you want to watch.

Something I've always wanted to ask you since your move: are those your up/download speeds in the footer from before or after the move?
