And this is where assumptions are dangerous. In my case, I love riding cycles however due to the nature of my disabilities I spend a lot of time in a wheelchair. When I can during times of remission I immediately start riding my cycle which happens to be an E-Bike. I can also ride fast on this bike, never on shared cycle/walking tracks. If not for E-bikes I would not be able to ride a cycle at all. Does that make me lazy?
There are a good number in my support group that are in a similar position and also disabled people I help, are they lazy as well. I will not be defending my position further as I am tired of having to defend that I am differently abled but I will defend others.
The "lazy" statement just didn't need to be added to the story.

If you read what I wrote you'll see I never said that.
"If they can ride that fast they should ride a normal bike. Lazy pricks".
It's exactly what you said.
Correct that is exactly what I said, which is not "So those who use E-bikes are lazy."
I think E-bikes are a great invention as they enable people to enjoy an activity they otherwise might not be able to enjoy.
To enable those who failed to comprehend what I said I will paraphrase what I wrote.
There are a few E-bike riders who clearly don't need an E-Bike, evidenced by the way they ride them at crazy speeds especially around/near other users. They're the lazy pricks I was referring to.

Maybe this is what you should have said in your original post. Please remember though not all disabilities are immediately obvious. I know that types you a referring to and Oriental Parade in Te Whanganui-a-Tara is an example of this, not just E-bikes, leg powered bike riders, scooters and e-skateboards.
I am going to leave it here, hope you have a great new year and safely travel the walkways and cyclesways

To change the subject, it is not a great year to go camping.

About a week back.... this woman in the Bunnings carpark just stops her car in the middle of the way to look at her phone. Blocks the guy behind her and blocks me from doing a right turn into an empty space. When she started moving she was still looking at her phone and driving slowly.
These people really piss me off. In a carpark it's arrogant and inconsiderate at worst. But then people do it on the motorway and that's not just dangerous but potentially lethal. I got hit on the motorway recently, doing 100kmh. Guy just drove into the side of me. He was never going to admit it and I can't prove it, but I'm quite certain he was looking at his phone. It's lucky nobody was hurt.
So to anybody who thinks they can look at their phone while driving, that flicking their eyes up toward the road every now and then is sufficient, NO YOU BLOODY CAN'T.

That should be...
They're the lazy pricks to which I was referring.
Noise pollution. I'm doing a bush walk and someone about 30 m ahead is blasting hip hop music on his phone.

Is there ever a good year to go camping? Just asking for a friend. 😉

I live in Island Bay and the bus service is so hopeless now that it's almost faster to walk than catch the bus to get to work.
Between the council removing car parks and Metlink cancelling a large proportion of bus services it's becoming extremely difficult to get around the city. Cyclists seem to get whatever they perceive themselves to be entitled to, while the vast majority of us are left with very limited services.
I often take a bus around Wellington from Karori, as particularly into the CBD, it's quicker than taking a car and attempting to find a park. However, I'm particularly grumpy about the way cycle lanes have taken priority over everything in a number of locations, including bus stops, and buses no longer have an "out of the traffic flow" bus stop and instead need to stop in the middle of the traffic lane. This means bus passengers now have to alight/embark in the middle of a cycle lane to get back to the footpath. The latest example in Tinakori Road is particularly irksome because it's single lane, so everything stops until all passengers have got on/off the bus.

I'm all for making the world cycle friendly but there comes a point when the tail starts to wag the dog. Cycle lanes for cycle lanes sake becomes a bit ridiculous in some places and can be counter-productive to the reason for their existence.
