Think I've ranted about this before, but the frustrations with selling things via Marketplace and the amount of "is this still available?" messages you get, then you reply almost immediately that it is and ask if they are interested and they just never reply again. What's the point? Feel like there must be people who get some sort of enjoyment out of going through and clicking interested on everything. Or the ones who ask for extra details/measurements/photos etc so you go away and do them and then they never reply again either. "Thanks but it's not quite what I'm after" shouldn't be so hard.

Know Trademe is more reliable, but find Marketplace can be quicker and easier to deal with people directly for low value things, but of course many more time wasters too. For anything of any significant value I'd go to Trademe.

I do feel that there is an element of this, but I also wonder if there is a technical issue too. I've very rarely sold anything on Marketplace, but have noted that messages do go into this black hole of unknown contacts, I didn't even know there was that kind of folder. I just generally ask for a phone number straight away too as half the time I can never find the ad again.

That might happen sometimes, but you can always see when the message has been read so that shows you they have received it and opened your response.

Cleaned out parents old house in New Plymouth mid-last year ready to sell it and decided FB Marketplace was likely to be a quick way of getting rid of a lot of stuff, even although I'd never used it before. Never again!!! The hassle of people saying they would buy and never turning up, people who didn't read the listings properly and just assumed we were in Auckland just because they were - even although I'd given them an address, people even paying and then changing their minds.

The "herding cats" phrase springs to mind.

Bought an item listed as in stock. Money was taken immediately. This morning I got an email saying "oh whoopsie, we're out of stock, so we'll refund $86.98 you sometime over the next week". So they take the money immediately, then faff around for days when giving it back (I know I'm not the first to complain about this!).

It'll be interesting to see how much I get refunded, as the email says $86.98 but the original purchase was $86.99. It's obviously a rounding error, but I wonder whether it's just in the email or whether it'll apply to the transaction too.

And the answer is... the refund is for $86.98. No idea where the other cent went. If they did this with enough customers then it'd be a small bonus income for them!

I actually sent them an email that basically went "I feel a bit silly asking this, but where did the other cent go?". It remains to be seen whether I get a response (only sent a moment before my other post).

You should sue them for the other cent. Seriously. You never know where this might go.

Oh, I didn't mean to bring that up as a criticism - you're perfectly free to do that. But please remember that untreated sewage destroys your beautiful idyll (this is not meant sarcastically at all) and a big bill could still come. I would not wish that on you.

By the way, we pay 3,96€/1000L (6.64NZD/1000L) incl. sewage plus a fixed fee for the measuring device. Trend: rising

Sewage? Our water comes form underground aquifers, so its very clean.

Indeed sewage, for the waste water treatment … not the drinking water which can be taken directly from the tap. 😉

That for whatever reason, in a black running shoe with a black midsole, there are no womens 2E (extra wide) 6.5, anywhere on the planet. Any other combination of colour, size and width, are available, it's just 6.5 that is missing.

This is possibly a question that only a guy could ask but is a 0.5 in a women's shoe really that critical? I can wear a 9, 10, or 11 and there's not much difference, just have to do them up a bit tighter or looser.

As a (male) trail runner, yes, it does.  I changed from 10 to 10.5 trail shoes a couple of years ago.  10's, while snug and my "normal" size, didn't have sufficient room in the toe box.  11's are too much like clown shoes.

Side note, ASICS dropped the 2E variant in the Fuji Trabuco's from the model 9 onwards.  After discussion with their online chat, it's because the Trabuco is wider than standard anyway.

Companies that make you search FAQ and forums, before allowing you to access the support request form.

Then said form doesn't work. Tried in multiple browsers.

Form did not submit because there was a hyperlink to their forum post. Removed the hyperlink and the form submitted fine.

No error message shown at any time.

I tried to buy something yesterday and couldn't get the site to work. It starts with a page for you to enter your address, phone number, etc. but there are also "express checkout" buttons along the top for PayPal and other providers. I clicked on PayPal, logged in, and confirmed the transaction.

I was then directed to the second page on the vendor's site, where you pick your shipping method. I chose one, clicked Next... and it just reloaded the same page. Tried again, same thing. No error message.

It turns out that on the first page the phone number field is mandatory, but since PayPal doesn't have my phone number it couldn't autofill that field. Of course, actually telling the customer that is apparently too hard...

Yup, 6.5 is her size. Everything else is either too tight or too big in the toe movement. She has wide feet (as do I as I have flat feet).

I should have also mentioned in my case that I don't wear high-quality running shoes but cheap Chinese sneakers for which sizes are more like the Pirate Code - I've had 10's that feel like 8's when put on and have had to get alleged-12s in some cases for them to fit properly.
